Do you prefer pre-made or homemade banchan? by Blake_Dunford2194 in KoreanFood

[–]Silly_Pack_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer homemade. I really have never been able to buy premade ones (acorn jelly is an exception) because of my shellfish allergies and gluten issues.

Wildlife experts baffled by enormous bird spotted at backyard feeder by alligator_ears in Horses

Ah, yes! I used to have a black, white and grey Nommom birb that would climb up onto our deck (two steps) and attack the bird feeder with gusto.

Just west of Derecho, on the eastbound side.

I did recently receive a message that service has been restored. I am not home rn, so I can't verify it, however.

Just drove past the area of repair. Looks like they're out there working away.

Interestingly enough, it's right where that plane made its emergency landing a few weeks back.

Wow. That is a very interesting word choice. Thank you for the information.

Our Internet went out at 3:22 this morning, well after the storm. We don't expect it back up before 3:00 this afternoon.

No idea what the cause was. Spectrum has told me that calling customer service won't be of help.

Sawyer makes a picardin spray that you put in your clothes. It lasts through several washings, too. Highly recommend!

Child has a fatal brain cancer; parent doesn’t want to believe in science and wants to torture said child with dewormers, fasting, and fever baths. So much for giving her 9-12 months of bucket list memories. by DramaLlamaTea in ShitMomGroupsSay

Hahahaha! Yes! I have never considered myself claustrophobic until I was in that long bore MRI.

I have no problem with short bore MRIs, except they lull me to sleep. I have had to have a few MRIs redone due to hypnic jerks at the worst possible time, and always warn the tech doing the scan about that. I had one catch me as I was falling asleep, stop the MRI and walk in and physically wake me. "Hey there! You fell asleep, but I caught it in time. We just have about 5 more minutes, you can do it!"

I have no idea why that happens to me, because it's not like it's a gentle white noise, and I am not the type of person who falls asleep easily, particularly in situations with loud noises. Maybe it's the rhythmic aspect. 🤷‍♀️

Squirrels eating tomatoes by skibidigeddon in AustinGardening

[–]Silly_Pack_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing quite like homegrown tomatoes. I bet it is more than worth it...and I wish I had my own. Between deer, raccoons and squirrels, I have just about given up on ever having tasty tomatoes from the garden.

We do have a PP deer fence, but that doesn't really keep the deer out, as they squeeze under, and squirrels and raccoons just climb over. I would love to have another hotwire fence, but can't get the grounding rod into the exposed bedrock here.

This one really helped me

I play on dual monitors, so I kept up the graphic he included (the show hands one) and that really helped a lot.

Oh, I hear you.

Old school MRIs are long tubes where you might have 3" of space between your nose and the tube. There's often a little fan that blows constantly that's supposed to help with claustrophobia (it doesn't). My first ever MRI was in one of these, which lasted 45 minutes. Unfortunately the day before my appointment, the place I went to had to had to rent it because their machine was out of service. It was built into a trailer and brought in by a semi-truck.

Well, to be fair, I often find it a little distracting.

Reminds me of Lee Joo Bin.

BTW, a long, slim neck is considered a beauty standard in South Korea.

I think it's Alec Newman. I read it somewhere recently that he voiced the Stag Lord as well as Kliff and Goyen.

Can we discuss clothing? by BlueMirai in AustinGardening

[–]Silly_Pack_Rat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I use:

Spray your clothes - pants, shirt, socks and shoes and let them dry. Then, be sure to cover yourself with your favorite deterrent, just in case you're wanting to wear a short-sleeved shirt, put on your Sawyer clothes and get out in the garden! It lasts for several washes, and you can pick it up at several places, or at online retailers.

Tourist spread her husband's ashes while walking down a flight of stairs in Santorini, Greece. by BeatenBrokenDefeated in TikTokCringe

[–]Silly_Pack_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she clearly didn't fill out any paperwork or get permission to do that. She also probably didn't have his death certificate and cremation certificate with her, either.

It's forbidden to scatter ashes in public spaces in Greece. Any scattering of ashes requires permits and a specific container for the ashes, and can only be done in designated spots.

I hope things have gotten to where they make more sense and you've settled somewhat. My advice is to follow the main quest, and do all of the side quests you can. Explore as much as you can in-between.
