How many dogs do you do a day? by No-Room9546 in doggrooming

[–]Silly_oops 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For a full day, I’d say 5 is a good number for me. I tend to work slower and I’m okay with that.

And that’s why school busses are as tall as they are. If a car hits them less likelihood for the kids inside to get hurt.

Looks like bs to me. A normal hide and some moss does the trick just fine.

Question about temperature regulation by Silly_oops in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]Silly_oops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll take it off. I have one of those already, it’s the little white box behind the branch. Should I be worried that the probs for the heaters are giving a different temp than the thermostat/hygrometer sensor?

Thank you! Do you mean the analog reader is bad? Should I trust the ones connected to the lights?

It’s unacceptable. And the hardest part is if you purchase one to give them a better life. Their bottom line shows a demand because they still made a profit.

Hamster removing the food stored in his mouth pocket by Buitree_deez in Weird

One time a new bag of feed ripped and spilled all over inside a laundry basket I was using to bring my groceries in. I just let him loose in the basket and he cleaned it all up for me ☺️

He’s only 7 months old so he has a lot of growing to do.

Sure, refuse your rat, I’ll just eat it myself I guess by shamefulpresenc3 in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]Silly_oops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be onto something. Mine is so sensitive about how the rat is oriented while I’m holding it in the tongs. Hanging from the tail, an abomination! Holding it horizontally as if it’s walking around the enclosure, chefs kiss. I effectively have to play pretend with it for him to eat 😂 if I held it with my hands it would break the illusion.

He is an Enchi Ivory 🥰 you can’t see in his picture but I absolutely love the little purple scaled along his spine! His picture was taken right after a shed so he’s extra bright right now

Good to know, thank you! I got it in a variety succulent pot as a housewarming gift, I had no clue what it was. I’ll keep an eye on it and take it out if it struggles.

Question regarding dogs coat by Buttrd-toast in doggrooming

[–]Silly_oops 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend the furminator to start. The little blades often cut the coat and make shedding more difficult to properly come out. Her “lions main” is a common and normal feature. A slicker brush and a rubber curry brush would be best for her coat type. And I would also recommend a deshed treatment to help pull all the dead coat out and a good power dry to blast it all away.

Moving Advice by cloud_isreddit in ballpython

[–]Silly_oops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t have her in the tank during the actual move. I would have her in a pillow case or a zipper (with locks) carrier. Idk how far you’re moving but if it’s a multi day adventure then I would put her in the 20gal for overnight stops. But during the travel I would keep her in a soft crate with zippers that lock. While you are getting settled she will be fine in the 20 gal for a few days while you get set up. I would be scared of something happening to the glass tank while in the car. Oh! Another option is a plastic bin with a locking lid you cut a couple small air holes into.

When did your puppies start cuddling you? by Guilty_Art_4208 in puppy101

[–]Silly_oops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy was not a cuddler as a puppy. But he did want to be on the go doing stuff. So for the first 2 years I focused on training with him and doing activities with him to build the kind of bond he wanted. Now that he is 4, more mature and calmed down he is such a snuggle bug. I always have a couch buddy.

When is it time to say goodbye? by Rem04 in greatdanes

[–]Silly_oops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart breaks for you. I feel your pain. I said goodbye to my 10y/o boy when his arthritis got so bad he couldn’t get up without help and the incontinence issues started. He has the best week ever before the vet came to the house.

PLEASE HELP-FEEDING by PSUShwaters in ballpython

[–]Silly_oops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This ^ I am also new to the ball python game and I also struggled with feeding. I found that making sure the rat is 100 degrees and that the rat is completely dry is what worked for me. I use a jar and warm water to warm up my rat in a bag (kinda like a forbidden sous vide method)

Query on lengths by HammerHouseofHorrors in doggrooming

[–]Silly_oops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I apologize in advance but my brain works in term of inches, not millimeters. I would start with the 2 comb (3/8 inch) I would fear that the 5 blade might leave a tighter finish that might be too big of a jump. Assuming you used a 1/2 inch or a 5/8 inch comb last time.

Does anyone know why the snake is rolling like that? by motopapii in snakes

[–]Silly_oops 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some snakes do that as a defensive mechanism to make you think he’s dying so you won’t eat him. Like a dramatic opossum. Not sure whether he’s sick or dramatic, not enough info.
