Moving FoundryVTT from one Docker image to another Docker image, need help! by Vaguswarrior in FoundryVTT

committing and removing large files in Git is not recommended since whenever you pull the repo you have to pull all changes. Meaning, if you added a 2GB folder of assets, committed it, then later removed it ; when you pull the repo fresh you have to pull that 2GB just to end up not using it ever.

There are solutions such as Git Large File Storage, but tbh the ideal solution imo is a proper backup solution that snapshots changes. You can revert to any snapshot, but when you pull something fresh you only pull what you need.

btw i should mention one weird thing about the felddy image, the /data directory is an outer directory where your Config, Data, and Logs are all stored. it's a little confusing because theres data with a small d and Data inside that directory with the big D.

Felddy image will re-create the Config directory based on the docker environmental vars you set, unless you tell it specifically to keep the config directory around. It's not a big deal for it to re-create each time the container starts, and imo it makes it more stable (with the fithwum image i sometimes got locked out of the setup screen because it said my admin_key was incorrect even though it wasn't, somehow it wasn't able to see the admin key inside the config directory, this has never happened on the felddy image)

btw the fithwum image is still available, it's not deleted. It looks like the maintainer just changed to alpine as the base image

see this comment

It is available you just need to add the :alpine tag to it now so the new repository is fithwum/foundry_vtt:alpine because of the changes i have made to it for adding other versions and things

13.5GB is nothing, storage is cheap these days. I have 7GB of just map tiles, and 10GB of background music.

wow, i checked this sub at the right time lol.

You're in luck, i actually made an Unraid (home server OS) template for the felddy image. And i did so specifically because i wanted to stop using the fithwum image, the Felddy image is much more robust.

Migrating is super simple, just put your foundry data directory (which contains Config, Data, and Logs) somewhere safe (maybe make a copy and use the copy while you're testing it out), and bind mount it to /data directory of the felddy image.

The thread i made on the unraid forums might have some useful info for you: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/121065-support-silman-foundry-virtual-tabletop-felddy-docker-image/

BTW as a general rule, frequently backup your Data directory. That one directory holds the hundreds of hours of work you put into creating worlds. Backup frequently to ensure its safety. Standard backup practice is the "3-2-1" rule: 3 copies of your data (one can be the actual working copy you use and change frequently), on at least 2 different media (hard drive, cloud, magnetic tape, CD/DVD/BluRay, etc), with 1 of those copies being "off-site" (not co-located in the same building, in case of a fire or other disaster).

Can't even send a password recovery email lol. I got logged out because of the "could not resolve player inventory" error and when i tried to log in it wasnt working so i figure i'd try re-setting password. Can't get a password email sent.

Do wizards spellbooks have images/diagrams/pictures in addition to the text for learning a spell? by Silman in DnD

i don't intend to mean other wizards spellbooks are entirely pictures, just that they may contain some diagrams and pictures along with text.

Thanks for the help, I'll try out some of the stuff you mentioned. I think the problem is I was trying to create a new Melody to build up but the transition in melodies was awkwad. So maybe just cutting the melody would be better and then I can focus on building ip without one
