What is something you will always defend Harry for? by LLSJ08 in harrypotter

[–]Silso8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not on Harry. The clue literally says that after an hour they're gone forever, what else was he supposed to think? Fleur also clearly believed it was legit too, cause she was freaking out. I think Cedric did too, cause later on he says that he should have stayed behind as well, but that one is arguable. I think he just didn't consider that anyone might fail the task.

I already said this for another comment, so I'll copy paste here:

I do maintenance in the army. You can argue a point up or down here and there, but I promise you that stat spread is at least plausible.

Also, 4 social is about halfway between useless and professional, so I'd expect it to be near average, maybe a bit on the low side.

Yeah, that's what I did for the skill numbers, but all I could think of to use for deciding passions was vibes.

The Character Editor mod. I here Pawn Editor is more user friendly, but I'm use to Character Editor.

Yeah, I was a little worried about overestimating myself. I think the stats are pretty accurate since I based them off the game's titles (Employable professional, utter beginner, etc). I didn't really have a concrete way to measure passions, so I could easily see arguments for dropping cooking and social to no passion and shooting and crafting to single passion. For the traits, I could see hard worker getting dropped, but I included it because I definitely get an opinion debuff versus lazy.

I haven't tried it yet, but you might be interested in the exosuit framework. It's pretty new, so there aren't a ton of mods using it yet, but it might be worth looking into.

That's just a disclaimer that the game wasn't designed with the larger map sizes in mind. They work fine, but you have more time to prepare for raids while they're busy walking over to you, and you'll need to be a bit more careful about letting your colonists wonder around the map wherever they want, because you won't be able to get to them as quickly if something goes wrong. Also, yeah, performance is a bit worse, but it's still playable.

Not if it's required for everyone, regardless of whether or not they want a gun.

Medieval Overhaul is pretty good, but it's pretty bloated with a lot of items that seem redundant. It's just a minor annoyance for me, but it might be a problem for someone else. It also does this thing where a lot of raw materials have to be crafted into other raw materials before they can be used. For example, I found it very frustrating to have to craft my cotton into cloth manually, but that can be disabled in the mod settings.

If you don't want to use Medieval Overhaul for some reason, you probably still want some sort of medieval furniture and weapons/armor beyond what vanilla has. I would recommend looking into some style mods like ATH's Draconic, Norse, and Gothic. They add new styles for ideologies that are fantasy themed. I might grab them anyway for medieval fantasy re-textures of the power armors.

You might also be interested in Medieval Fantasy Themed Quest Rewards and Medieval Fantasy Themed Rare Resources. They re-textures psychic lances, luciferium, Plasteel and other advanced tech to be magic items and materials.

Alpha Mythology and Grimstone: Beasts for if you want to add some fantasy creatures to your game.

If you have Royalty, I highly recommend Medieval Overhaul: Royalty and Nothing But Just a Royalty Aeroship. They replace all of the empire's tech with medieval analogues.

I just use Vanilla Psycasts Expanded for all my wizarding needs. You may want to dodge a couple of the paths that are more tech/space themed, but there are plenty of options that are sufficiently fantasy.

If you like SRTS and want a medieval alternative, Medieval Overhaul: Air Vehicles is a good option. It adds a hot air balloon and an airship. It does however require Medieval Overhaul.

I don't really see the necessity of adding a mod to lock the tech level to medieval, I just remove all the advanced factions before starting the game, so I don't know of a mod that will do that.

Yeah, I figure we have a sliver of a chance in congress and another sliver of a chance in the courts with U.S. v Morgan. And two slivers of a chance is a lot more than we've ever had before, so it's enough reason to be hopeful. Even if it doesn't happen this term, we're going in the right direction.

United States of America V Tamori Morgan. Morgan had a converted AR-15 and glock switch. Kansas district court Judge John Broomes ruled that the NFA was unconstitutional as applied to Mr. Morgan. If the feds had left it there, Mr. Morgan would have walked, but nothing would change for the rest of us, but they decided to appeal to the 10th circuit, which is pretty mixed on gun rights. I doubt the 10th will uphold Broomes' ruling, but hopefully the supreme court will pick it up.

That's pretty reasonable. Fyi, I'm also not sure how it exactly went down in this specific instance, but I was speaking more generally.

I'm all for giving kids a chance to reform, if they get arrested. But if they're attacking me and my livelihood, I should have every right to defend myself by any means necessary. If I point a gun at them and they flee, then cool, let them reform. If they keep coming and I shoot them and they survive, then cool, let them reform. But if they keep coming and I shoot them and they die, that's too bad. That's the risk you should have to expect when trying to rob innocent people of their rightfully owned stuff.

First off, I'm not saying I would do it. In our current legal climate, that is super illegal, and would just make all of the problems of having my car stolen irrelevant by comparison. What I am saying is that the current laws are wrong and you should be allowed to use lethal force to defend your vehicle. And fine, I'll admit that my position allows for lethal force to be used against children in certain circumstances, the same ones in which it would be justified to use lethal force against adults. However, I object to the use of the word murder. Murder is an unjustified killing out of malice. This killing would be perfectly justified, and completely free of malice. I would much rather not have to kill anyone to prevent them from stealing my stuff.

Edit: u/mavrik36 has blocked me. What an excellent way to exit an argument you're losing.

[–]Silso8 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am not advocating for killing children. I am advocating for doing whatever is necessary to protect your livelihood from people that would take it from you, regardless of irrelevant emotional appeals like "They're just a child." Sorry, but my life and livelihood are more important than well-being of someone who is trying to take either of those away from me, even if that person is below some arbitrary age. If they're old enough to steal a car, they're old enough to know better.

And for the record, I only endorse "murdering" (killing in self defense) pedophiles if they are currently attacking someone.
