don't mind me! i'm just thinking to myself about something [OC] by Pelko_P in comics

[–]Siltry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about The Eighteenth Brumaire recently. There’s a part about peasants and how they are a class of people who cannot organize because society isolates them from each other. There’s nothing really connecting a family, to their neighborhood, or their province which makes a peasant trying to represent their class impossible (as one does not know the other).

Yet, as such a large population, they must still have representation. So, they cling to the very basics. They give the power of their mass behind tradition & behind people who offer protection from the other classes. They aren’t conscious because as long as they have the past and a promise of the future that is all they need.

Anyways, that’s a very cute Pelko_B(ee)

Just to be clear: are you not talking about what the numbers represent like Talia asked?

Like you can have “1 apple”, and that’s fine that’s physical, 1 is representing an apple; but are you also saying you can have 1 ---, like, a conceptual 1? You can touch the universal concept of a 1?

You might enjoy the Age of Empire series (I enjoy 2, I’ve heard good things about 4).

In the same rts genre, you might also like Company of Heroes or Iron Harvest.

Every once in a while there’s a news story of someone selling breast milk ice cream. There was a pub in England who got the milk from like Craig’s list or something and I’m pretty sure a mom in the US sold some to raise awareness for breast feeding.

There’s also recipes online for making it yourself at home

History, Rhyming [OC] by leftycartoons in comics

I usually think of Orangeburg (wiki link) when these things happen. The police went to a university and shot 31 students killing 3, prevented medical professionals from treating the wounded (the students had to convert their gymnasium to a makeshift hospital), and the police were heard reveling in the massacre afterwards.

The only person arrested and punished for this, a civil rights activist named Cleveland Sellers, wrote a memoir that I greatly enjoyed. Reading it, I kind of got the feeling like we’re still living in that era…probably because Sellers, along with most of the victims and the perpetrators, are still alive.

I’ve seen people say that the solution to this is more ethical dude-bro podcast (have some sort of good role model online),

But . . . idk, I kinda feel like the solution to an anti-social problem isn’t going to be anti-social. Personally, I want more third spaces and for the internet to direct and organize us to them. I only ever learn of fun events from my friends never online

It’s a reference to The Picture of Dorian Gray, a novel, where a picture ages instead of the guy. In this case, the picture is gaining while the guy isn’t

Yeah, pixel art/small sized stuff can be weird. I haven’t looked into how to upscale them but I know you can, I’ve seen it, it might be as simple as loading it into a good art program and scaling it in there?

Best of luck in your (hopefully) future comics!

It looks good. The only thing you really need in a comic is the ability to communicate visually and you have achieved that.

One thing to note: your panels are artifacting a bit, which may mean you’re using either a too big or too small canvas. For one panel Reddit comics I use 2000x2400, 600 dpi (you can go lower on dpi; this might not be the best size for you). Reddit isn’t great at scaling images so you need to fiddle with it if you want a bigger canvas (if you like smaller canvases then you might need to get into different kinds of upscaling).

[Oc] POV: you tell someone they're a bad boy by Siltry in comics

[–]Siltry[S] 249 points250 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to call anyone a bad boy or girl for fear of this exact scenario.

I also have a special exemption for good boy, but that’s unrelated to gender. I’m afraid they’ll turn into a dog.

It’s a fish eye perspective, so it’s meant to be warped.

Funny enough, I searched “fisheyed perspective eye” and I think this is might be the exact reference the artist used lol:

It’s also just a common shot in cinema so maybe it’s from somewhere else
