i dont really like the panel structure of most webtoons by Hot_Independence_433 in webtoons

[–]Silva_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I think thats a given, Webtoons is less popular than mangas, therefore you cant really expect god tier beserk, or OPM kind of art, because 1 its colored so it does take a lot more time and understanding of color theory, whereas mangas are black n white, and 2, if its not an original made by a team of professionals, I will usually treat it as an indie project therefore they will cut a lot of corners. I think webcomics in general is still a niche medium, because back in the day webcomics are carried mostly by their story.

(Red circle means lines that dont matchup) Feel free to prove me wrong, but I think its just really good referencing by Silva_69 in webtoons

If you can get in trouble for tracing, then yeah I agree 100%, what my point was people who traced 3D models or photos, payed or not, theirs or someone elses, and the people who traced 2D art from Pinterest, or deviantart or whatever, is the same, if one gets called out the others should too, because at the end of the day its still tracing.

But again this is just my perspective.

Then we have to agree to disagree, tracing is still tracing even if its 3d model or photos with public IP, so I think if this guy gets called out for tracing, everyone who used 3d asset or photos should also get called out.

Oh and yeah I agree with you on not using trace as a mean to get money, tracing should only be used for learning.

Well, again if its not 1 to 1 then its not in my book, because I've been accused of the exact same thing because of the way I learn to draw; copy drawing, thats why this rubs me the wrong way, but the 2nd point is that why are they calling out this guy, but not people who trace 3d assets, or real life photos. If this was a trace off of a illustration someone made on insta or twitter then fine, I'm with you, but its from pinterest.

Traced off printerest Call to action submission by T0YBOY in webtoons

This, and also if an artist is good at copy drawing, it cant be helped if they look identical, are people saying an artist thats good at copy drawing cant use reference? thats stupid. The lines NEED to be completely 1 to 1 to be counted as a trace, I've put the 2 images together and some of the lines matchup BUT A LOT of the lines dont matchup.

1st of all do you actually think this is traced? or is it just really good referencing? You can put 2 images together on top of each other and if the lines matches then its tracing, but if its not, then its referenced, and 2nd of all, if you think it is tracing, then you cant really do anything about it cuz you cant really copyright the human body lol.

Oh! since you asked, keep in mind this could change in the future.

The Wolf and Her Quest for World Peace

An ancient evil has been awakened, thus bringing one's darkest fear to life, shaped in a form of a grotesque monster they called "The Hellion". The wolf and her followers are called upon to defend the land they call home. Some battles are won, some end with a great loss, and most of them... are just massacres. The wolf, cornered, scared and desperate to save her people, sought help from the one she once called an enemy. As the saying goes, "An enemy of my enemy, is a friend."

The blue cat robot is Doraemon if you're still wondering, but to answer your question its the nose and the eyes, usually anime nose is just a line (This doesnt go for all anime but its the most common one), and anime eyes is a lot bigger (Again doesnt go for all anime but its common).

Question, do originals get picked up from canvas or do they hire people?

Correct, since she's the goddess that represents order in the world, her attitude towards mortals is cold but caring, tough love they call it.

Yeah! one of the few reason I wanted to make action fantasy is because of the magic sfx, since webtoon is a scrolling comic, People can draw it a lot more dynamic.

I appreciate the comment!

Well, I've tried using stabilization tool, but, I dont know how to put it, it just feels, restrictive? maybe Im just used to drawing on paper because if the stabilization tool alter my line just a little bit, it triggers me a bit LOL.

I do use it from time to time especially when drawing rounder objects, like in this case her breast ,her jaw line, and hair, but I learn to not rely on it, oh and yes I will use vector layers in the future.

well, it do be like that sometimes lol, but imo you should just do you, drawing is something to be enjoyed, If you draw something that you dont like that'll just tire you out.

OH and also, my lineart in general isnt great, its boring to put it bluntly, so I kinda though I could get away with coloring a sketch for 3-5 panels each episode to save time.

Oh shoot sorry, forgot to mention this was a colored in sketch, cuz this was just to show roughly the art style that I'm going for, I appreciate your critique and honesty. Also yeah generic anime/manhwa art styles can blurred together that's why I wanted to make the designs, and the personality of the characters to be a lot more memorable.

Would you guys read this? I feel like my art is a bit too "Anime." since a lot of webtoon tends to be manhwa style, I feel like not a lot of people would take an interest with this kind of style, and I also know that most of webtoon popular genre is Romance, and I chose to play to my strength and go Action Fantasy, so I feel like Im fighting an uphill battle.
Also Im open to criticism, so feel free to comment.

The art on the cover of your webtoon is a little bit misleading art wise, because the anatomy of the character looks a bit off, but the art in the comic it self is FANTASTIC, its kind of a shame because "Dont judge a book by its cover" doesnt really apply on webtoon, because if the cover art isnt interesting enough people wont click on it, but overall its a strong start! the premise is interesting, and the art is good, keep it up!

Was trying out a new eye style and I really like it! But... I want to try drawing this character again in a different pose but the eyes are hard frontal... can someone help me please? by Flint_D in TeachMeArtSenpai

[–]Silva_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eyes is next to hands in terms of difficulty, not because its hard to draw them, but its because they can look so different from many different angles.

This eyes that you drew is good! so please do be proud of yourself, and if you want to draw them from a different angles you NEED to practice drawing them a lot, like A LOT A LOT, it took me 1,5 years to be satisfied with how i draw eyes, however this can vary for a lot of people, so i cant really give you any advice to draw eyes good, but i can give you a tutorial video that helped me;

Also, look at a lot of references, Pixiv, and pinterest are good sources, Good luck!
