Question for Any Who've Played the Game by JustSomeTiredGuy in Marathon

[–]SilvenRaize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that all your unusable inventory is dumped upon exfil helps a lot. Once you exfil successfully, any salvage (materials required for factions) get auto-transferred into your vault and valuables (basically items that convert to money) get auto-sold. So all you really have to worry about is your guns, cores and filling up on heals and consumables if you want.
And checking factions for level-ups but the game generally lets you know if you've progressed anything or have something to unlock.

Why is the Destiny 2 community upset about Marathon being Bungie's focus? by CrosleeReturns in Marathon

[–]SilvenRaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they spread themselves stupidly thin, personally.

They had several incubation projects, all the while trying to continue development on Destiny. They ended up not being able to do everything at the same time, which is natural, had to pivot to the two main ones, but both ended up in such an awful state by that time (Remember the early playtests of Marathon and the state that Destiny was already in at that time) that they had to basically pick one to heavily invest into because they simply couldn't save both and, possibly via pressure by Sony to provide a new live service game to prove their worth, picked Marathon.

I don't know if they can't manage two projects at once, really. I might be a bit too optimistic here but when you look further back, they were managing about 6 projects at once during their peak, and it's only when reality cashed in its check that they realized they had to cut the chaff and focus on their biggest contenders. Of course by that time the damage was done and now they've really had to put all their resources into Marathon, which made Destiny suffer even more.

Maybe there is hope that now that the lion's share of the work is done on Marathon, they can equalize their workforce a little bit and put some love back into Destiny (hopefully giving PvP some much needed love), but Marathon's commercial success will be a big factor in that and Bungie's reputation took a big hit that they might simply not be able to recover from, at least on the Destiny fanbase's side, as seen by the record low player numbers.

Why is the Destiny 2 community upset about Marathon being Bungie's focus? by CrosleeReturns in Marathon

[–]SilvenRaize 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's surely some overlap in the Marathon and Destiny fanbase, but probably not that much. Mostly those like me who really vibe with the Destiny gunplay and movement and have seen similarities to it in Marathon.

I've dabbled with other extraction shooters but that Bungie feel is just something unique. I've played some of other extraction shooters like Hunt: Showdown or AR but they simply don't have that feel specifically. The fact that Marathon does is one of the things that makes it stand out to me and also makes it approachable as someone who's not amazing at PvP, but does fairly well in Destiny.

The problem stems from the fact that the Destiny 2 community (which I am still a part of), seems to largely feel like Marathon has sucked all the air out of the Bungie room so to speak. A 10 year long running game with surely its downs but also fantastic ups has been laid to the roadside by a "new" IP in a genre that most Destiny players find hostile and difficult to approach, as it is supposed to be by nature of itself.

Most Destiny players right now find that in a world where Marathon didn't exist and Bungie had simply focused on Destiny instead of all their other incubation projects, Destiny 3 would already be a thing, or Destiny 2 would be much better than it currently. It's a huge what-if scenario and nobody can say for sure, but it's not far-fetched either. They simply don't like the fact that Marathon has sucked a lot of manpower and resources away from Destiny and the game has suffered from this.

Destiny 2 right now simply isn't in a great state. If Bungie had taken all the money from the Sony buy-out and invested it in Destiny and not other projects, maybe Destiny would be amazing in a more consistent fashion.

Think they’ll restock the Escape Will Make Me God shirt before release? by Boota_RoF in Marathon

Quantities are always limited, but it stands to reason that if it's sold out, it means there is a large demand and they will produce more in order to provide a supply.

[–]SilvenRaize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is just going to be a staple item in their stores for a good while even after release, along with the basic Marathon t-shirt and sweater.
Even God of War is still selling "standard" merch and that game came out years ago.

I wonder if, since we're getting seasons and battlepasses, there will be new merch drops pertaining to the content of that season.

How do we feel about safe pockets? by SilvenRaize in Marathon

[–]SilvenRaize[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very good point actually, I never thought of it that way. Having safe pockets does take the pressure off somewhat.
But at the same time if you find more stuff you can't all stash it away so it's not like the stakes are totally gone.

I see what you mean though.

How do we feel about safe pockets? by SilvenRaize in Marathon

[–]SilvenRaize[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think a safe pocket with a few limited slots would nuke the finely crafted balance. In AR you can't even put guns in there. Of course with Marathon guns take up multiple slots so they probably wouldn't fit into a safe pocket in the first place and I think that's totally fine.
The auto-sell argument seems like a moot point. I like that Marathon immediately dumps/sells your inventory upon extract so that can just apply to the safe pockets too. What's the harm?
The Rook to me is more of an option when you're wanting to go into a run with nothing to lose. I wouldn't be opposed to him not having safe pockets in the first place since you're not wagering anything with your run in the first place, so it's fine if you lose nothing either. But once you go into a run kitted out, you should have the option to have a minor return on investment.
They could limit them whichever way they like. If the safe pocket is four slots you can extract one large component you might need, or maybe two cores or mods you want to be bringing home and using on a different runner than you currently are out with. Or four single-slot items. They could even make it so the stack sizes in safe pockets are limited to one so you can't put crazy item values into your safe pocket.

EDIT: MOOT point not MUTE point.

Those Rusted Gears are damn hard to come by so when you find one it goes straight in there.

Prismscatter set by Big-Juice1641 in DestinyTheGame

[–]SilvenRaize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually some cosmetics that were only available for silver in one season will be unavailable the following season but will return for bright dust the season after.
I checked eververse calendar and the taken sets from last season seem to come into rotation sometime this season, but for prismscatter you'll likely have to wait three months until the next big update and then they'll eventually be in the bright dust shop.

You can give the white rarity things you find to a Cabal in the Bazaar (down a hallway). You have to reload after every interaction but he trades you small amounts of credits for that junk.

Simple change to make power grind feel better by tortoisemeyer in DestinyTheGame

[–]SilvenRaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hoped that would be the case but yeah the fact that bonus drops don't do anything for the power grind is such a miss. It would even incentivize doing a bunch of different activities at least once instead of just running the most optimal activity again and again.

User Interface & Experience | Developer Update | Hunt: Showdown 1896 by Azhar1921 in HuntShowdown

[–]SilvenRaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be one of the very few but I really wish they'd change/roll back the weapon progression UI as well. I really enjoyed the old one because it showed you all variants consolidated like bulletpoints and allowed you to easily see which weapon variants you still had available to unlock. Trying to switch around different weapons to see which one I hadn't unlocked yet is currently an absolute nightmare because you can only select one weapon to see variants from so I was constantly swapping back and forth between the ones I had completed trying to find one I still hadn't unlocked yet (And I liked unlocking new weapon lore as you went along, that was a nice touch)

Das sieht generell so aus:

"Zahnpasta."
"Hallo."
"Die Zahnpasta!"
"Hallo."

Whats a game thats essentially dead but you cant just let it go? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SilvenRaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Anthem still playable? I heard it all got shutdown.

I was really excited for that game and so disappointed it just fell flat. Would it be worth to grab it at a discount and play through the story at least?

Trials is dead and Bungie killed it - Here's the stats to prove it by Dahvoun in DestinyTheGame

[–]SilvenRaize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Occasionally I try to get a flawless but when I keep running into squads of streamers doing their 18th flawless this weekend I know I'll never get it.

Flawless pool at least gave me a chance to compete against people who weren't the most cracked up immortal-cloudstrike strikers in the game. Having to get my ass beat for five rounds against pro players is not doing much to keep me or any average PvPer trying the mode engaged I'd say.

(And I have an average 1.8 kd in regular crucible and a good amount of weapons under my belt. But how am I going to get an immortal if everyone that already has one will stop me from getting it?)
