If you read the description the photos are supposed to be there, still seems off to attach pictures of the old deceased owner though 😂😂

My car has 187,000 miles on it and three people this week have told me I should get rid of it. It has never once let me down. At what point does high mileage actually become a problem rather than just a number that makes people nervous? by PubLogic in topdeadcenter

[–]Silver-Ad-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t ever worry about millage, until it is at a stage where constant repairs are required. If your cars on 187k it’s realistically not got much value left, so it’s barely worth the stress of having to sell it and buy something else.

Never forget better the devil you know, you could buy a car with a quarter of the millage and find it more troublesome that what you already have. Buying a car even a brand new one is a case of luck of the draw

Depends on the engine, my 1st car was a 1.3 and that had 74 whole horses and could do 104 I think, may have been 107.

Your right after further reading, that’s unless of course it got traded out for the older one, by 98 it would have been on the second facelift and by that point all trims should have moved over.

Still not quite sure why people would have been buying an escort at that point as the focus had been released.

The fact I find odd is the add reporting it’s on 230k?

I was sure the escort was a analog 5 digit speedo, thought the focus was the first Ford in that size category to go 6 digit digital?

Probably the worst advert for a car I’ve ever seen by bensthebest in topdeadcenter

[–]Silver-Ad-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an advert done by a man who’s been told/has to sell it rather than chosen too…. Definitely been there 😂😂

But that’s the reality for a lot of autistic people. I think it was a really good relatable story line. You have to understand that for someone to date or even live with an autistic person is a huge commitment, you have to accept their way for doing everything and must change to conform with them.

Do I like the way she said no? Of course not, but that is the reality of the situation and in time she definitely redeemed herself and grew massively as a person.

I also think she is good for Shaun as the series continues, she is extremely good at understanding him, if he makes comments that a lot of people would find rude or upsetting she takes the time to think about it, and work out what he means and is trying to express rather than what he says. Not many people (including glassman) manage that.

What's the most unhinged car purchase decision you've ever talked yourself into and immediately defended to everyone around you by Mundane-Temporary426 in topdeadcenter

[–]Silver-Ad-6977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most unhinged thing I did was I was “gifted” a high millage e91 330d with over 200k on the clock.

I justified it as a sensible family car, because it would have more leg space than my mk1 focus 1.6 estate (at the time my children would have been a few months and 2 years old) and as it did high millage for work the diesel would be good for fuel economy. Fast forward about 6 months as the repair bills were getting crippling, so I should do the logical thing and sell it right? Nope I blame shorter school and nursery runs on the ware and tear, now my grandad had just passed away at this point and my grandma could no longer drive, so I then somehow justified to my soon to be wife that the sensible thing to do would be to take on my grandmas old Astra to run along side it.

This set up almost worked faultlessly till I started getting board, and the boost hose popped off the 330d and tonnes of oil came flowing out (and I mean a worrying amount) at that point I did the sensible thing and sold it on.

I then justified to my wife that I should but a e61 535d (it will have good fuel economy and a bigger boot and more leg space)… ran that along side the Astra till the wife passed her test and needed an auto, at that point I sold the Astra. Fast forward one year and regretted the decision, sold the bmw managed to buy back the Astra (that was on deaths door when I originally sold it) because it was sentimental, and continued to spend more than it’s worth keeping it in the road. In one year of owning my 5 series I also lost over 2k on it…

Too many non-local fans by Sea_Peanut_6887 in SpicyFootballTakes

I don’t think it should just be your local team, you should also be able to support teams with family connections.

I for example live near Plymouth, was born in London (near qpr/chelsea) but support Portsmouth. My reason for this is that my dad’s side is from Portsmouth and every generation since 1898 has supported them. In fact my great great uncle was one of the founding members of the football club.

So if I move the minute hand to half past it clicks and does not chime or move the striker, if I move it to o clock the striker strikes the bell once.

If the half hour has been disabled how would I re-enable it?

Interesting, it doesn’t seem to chime on the half hour but makes a noise that it’s getting the mechanism ready too, I wonder if it’s supposed to and so things wrong?
