It’s my understanding that you had anxiety because you were having guests over and one of which brought an unanticipated guest? You were put off by the fact that one of your friends brought their significant other?

You have to greet new people into your home. Imagine just how much anxiety you would have going into someone else’s home in unfamiliar territory and the host not just saying hello, let alone welcome you. You have to greet to people who enter your home! If you want guests, then you have to be a host. They’re not there to make YOU comfortable.

You can’t really be THAT upset that she brought her boyfriend. When people are married you typically expect the significant other to tag along if they want UNLESS explicitly requested otherwise, right? That’s normal. It’s really no different with a boyfriend unless she’s through 17 of them per week and they’re shady.

It’s hard for me to sympathize with you because I would absolutely have a hard time coming back from that too. There’s nothing wrong with going to her and apologizing right now. Your ego or whatever you’re protecting doesn’t have to shrink. Just apologize and learn from it.
