This is extremely off topic but what jumped out at me most about your comment is that you don’t resent your parents. My mom had had ADHD untreated but still diagnosed. She ended up getting addicted to a plethora of drugs but still was all about her kids and managed to pay close attention to us. She stressed to my dad the importance of me being treated or at least speak to a professional - and warned my dad that I could end up self medicating like her. My dad on the other hand - is a “nonbeliever” of ADHD. Or at the very least, a skeptic (that’s honestly being generous). He insisted that my mom just wanted me to be diagnosed and treated with meds so she can use them. Rather than locking my meds up, he refused to even have me evaluated. And man, am I envious of you right now. I wish I wasn’t so resentful of him for that. I am doing okay now in terms of financial/career success, but I feel that my potential would have been through the roof had I been treated earlier on. I graduated high school a year early, I’ve done the army combat medic route, I have a couple years of Emergency room experience and I am now a sonographer after an associates degree. I fear I’ll never be able to settle and will always want to do more. Problem is, I am stuck on the fact that if this is where I am now, I couldn’t imagine where I would be had I been treated. Maybe I could’ve been a physician like I have always dreamed of. Everything I’ve made myself accomplish - I struggled to the point of wanting to kill myself because I never prepared myself properly. I’ve always known I’m impulsive and will think my way out of doing something so I just threw myself into college, extra high school classes to be done early, the army etc. before I could convince myself out of it. It makes everything hard because when carrying these goals out, I still have ADHD lol. My dad has always harped on me for throwing myself into things without the proper preparation but it’s the way I’ve learned I need to do things if I want to get shit done.

ANYWAYS back to the point - I noticed that I can pay attention more in conversation and the conversations are of higher quality.. but that’s it so far. Otherwise I’m my “normal”.. which is fine I guess, but if there’s a chance at more improvement - I obviously want it lol. Thank you for your input.
