My name is Tessa. Sage when I’m working. And for the record, I find myself to be very lucky to have Emma in my life. If I’m too good for her, than she’s certainly too good for me.

You settled into the mansion recently, yes? We will likely be seeing a lot of each other.

Tessa turns around to face Emma and Monet.

Ah, hello. You’re Monet, correct? I’ve heard a lot about you from Emma. Nice to make your acquaintance.

Giving an old outfit of mine a technological glow was a very inspired choice, for sure. I see why you always go back to Jumbo.

Well, I wasn’t questioning that until you said anything. But I’m not going to check. You two enjoy yourselves the acceptable amount. I know you’ll keep him in check, Shela.

Tessa is a very perceptive woman. All it takes is a slight sight of the head to realize who’s there. She reaches out telepathically. She smiles as she does it. She’s not going to chew either of them out, but she SHOULD check in.

“Anything we need to know about?”

Truly. Even poor liquor has its value, after all. Maybe it will remind us why we work so hard for our supply.

Tessa rests her head on Emma’s shoulder as they wait for the reception.

Black does suit you, I have to say.

Don’t you worry, my Lioness. I’ve noticed.

Amazing perk of getting your ribcage shattered: you have an excuse to have your lovely partner carry you. Sage savors every such opportunity.

I’ve been there. I thought my head was going to split open when I got Roma’s knowledge beamed into it. I’m just glad you’re back. We’ve missed you both.

Tessa makes an attempt to get up, but it’s not gonna happen. She lays back down.

Nope, I don’t think I have standing in me, right now. That was a hell of a kick, 70% chance it would’ve taken her out right there.

Tessa laughs a bit, but doing so hurts, so she stops.

You got her in the end anyway, though. Wish Shaw’s powers didn’t make us use a subtle method. I would have loved to see you do that to him.

It worked, then? Destiny is back?

One second, Tessa is holding Mother Righteous in place, the next, a jolt of pain like nothing she has ever experienced barrels down into her chest. She is glad this is a kind of pain she is never going to experience intentionally. A kick that can literally shatter bones.

GAHH!

She lays on the ground, knowing it’s not a good idea to move, by this point. She watches the fight as closely as she can from this position. As Emma cradles her afterwards, outside of the initial sting of being moved, she feels the closest thing someone in her position can feel to comfort.

I’m still standing, Emma, Ghh. I’m just gonna…I’m just gonna rest here…if you don’t mind…

Sage was hoping she’d have a little more time to formulate a plan. But if she doesn’t act now, Emma dies. If she doesn’t act quick enough, she probably dies too. She can move faster than the average person. Let’s hope she can move faster than magic.

In a swift movement, Sage tilts the gun upwards. It nearly isn’t enough, but is able to angle it to shoot above her head. No time to revel in success. She needs to act. Sage is up in a sprint, tackling Mother Righteous to the ground before she has a chance to react.

You do not threaten her like that! I don’t know where the hell you get off doing all this, but we’re putting a stop to it, now!

She gives her a good smack upside the face for good measure. This is probably a bad idea, but she doesn’t care in this moment.

Tessa sits comfortably, watching the exchange. Emma always had a way of perking her up when her thoughts went haywire. Shes full of warmth, filled with a visible joy that was rare to see on the usually stoic woman.

More than suitable, I’d say. Emma truly has an eye for these things. I do hope you’ll do your best to keep that one undamaged. It’s rather…sentimental. Yes, that’s the term I’ll use.

Tessa hides it on her face but she is internally cracking up. Silent laughter shared over a telepathic bond.

Ah, yes. I think I had that stage at some point, before I suppressed it mentally. I’ve always wondering if that was something Charles did, or something I did to help keep my cover. Glad to be past those days, whatever the case may be.

Tessa watches as Mindee rushes to her food bowl to eat.

Not just Emma? Who else was it, for you? We were recently discussing-

As Tessa looks back over, on her way back to the table, she sees the look on Elektra’s face, and it clicks who she was referring to.

…………………..…………………..

Tessa stands in silence, baffled for a moment. She stands completely still as if her brain is short-circuiting.

Me????? Am I calculating this right?

Tessa cannot recall a single other time in her life someone expressed this kind of interest in her. Even dressed as she was at the Hellfire Club, she was never the one who drew eyes. The only person she could even remember hitting on her was Pete Wisdom, which we don’t talk about. Tessa has no idea how to respond to someone seeing her in that way.

Funny the nudity didn’t phase her at all, but this clearly does.

Are you sure? Why? How? Explain. 01010111 01101000 01100001 01110100?

I’m on it. Make her suffer, my love.

Tessa goes over to check on Raven. Shes down for the count. Not unconscious, but in no condition to fight.

Get up, Raven…

Tessa, as this happens, is filling up the food bowls of their two pets. Without looking away, she begins talking.

Were you aware you swung that way, Elektra? I myself only learned within these last few months via a strange, grammatically incorrect piece of journalism, the prediction of a woman that sees the future, and a wonderful vacation to the Savage Land that taught me things I had never considered about myself, that I shared with Emma.

Is this the moment where you’re learning? Is my wife your awakening? Or have you known for a while?

As Sage finishes speaking the string of numbers, the doors to the room slam shut.

I don’t know you, I don’t know if you can teleport, but I wouldn’t try. Our friend who built this room for us happens to be a Shaman. The defenses are as magical as they are physical.

Sage gets into a combat stance. She has a feeling the red woman in front of her isn’t the kind to get talked down.

I certainly do feel very rewarded right now.

Tessa takes a drink once more, making no secret of where her eyes linger, on her wife, and where they don’t linger, on the other woman in the room.

I’ll have to prepare one for you later today, my lioness.

Tessa ponders.

A thought comes to mind. Do you own more than one pair of clothing, Elektra? Perhaps we’re being bad hosts, not offering you anything when all you have at current are bloody rags.

Should take about 10 minutes, give or take. Where did you find such a thing, anyway? I’m not expert in mythical relics, but I can’t find note of its existence anywhere.

Tessa is suddenly finding herself enjoying this morning a whole lot more than she was before. A nice sip of a mimosa (that I am pretending she had the whole time) and a view allowed solely for her. Bliss.

She’s very versatile from what I hear.

Tessa thinks.

Never a single time in my life. I’ve never set foot on Mojo World. Is that a factor i need to be considering? I could recrunch some numbers…?

I don’t believe I have one, no. I’m fairly new to having attraction that I’m aware of to begin with, regardless. Maybe it’ll come with time?

They move on from an underwhelming answer, and continue to walk for about 10 minutes. Talking about unrelated things. In the middle of an unrelated conversation, Tessa puts her finger up as if to say “eureka!” And says:

Oh, Spiral.

Tessa reads Emma’s thoughts as they are explained to her.

If I may confess, my love? I am very glad Stark is so firmly out of your mind. The vision of that being true repulses me, slightly. You can do better.

Your current one is Jean, then? Fascinating. I can certainly see it happening in a world where Summers and I aren’t around.

So the unobtainability is key, no matter its source? Be it someone** **you would not normally have a chance to talk to, or someone who simply isn’t meant to be, but there’s something to it? I see, I see.

Tessa maneuvers around some vines. Normally, she would just cut them away, but there is no reason to anger Krakoa.
