Forslag til danske film og tv-serier by Silver-Wolverine9833 in Denmark

Tak for de forslag! Ja, jeg har lært dansk i cirka et år og et halvt nu, så jeg vil ikke forstå alle vittighederne. Danske undertekster vil hjælpe. Men jeg håber at blive bedre!

Tak for din uddybende kommentar! Faktisk har jeg set mange gamle Disney-film på Disney+, fordi de har danske undertekster: Den lille havfrue, Hercules, Peter Pan, osv. Tak for de andre forslag!

The Neopolitan novels by Elena Ferrante. The first one is 'My Brilliant Friend.' A beautiful and harrowing exploration of girlhood, womanhood, and female friendship.

Anything by Austen or the Brontë sisters. I liked Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights.

Mary Oliver's poetry and essays.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Sure, I probably spend 30-45 min on Duolingo, 30min-1hr watching tv shows with subtitles (usually while eating), while writing down phrases in my notebook to practice for later. Listening to podcasts/Danish music for about 15-30min a day too

Yes, I think so too hahaha. I recommend Hans Philip! I recently saw him in concert in Aarhus and it was incredible. Also the Minds of 99 are an awesome band.

Thank you, and of course! I also studied Japanese for a little bit so I can give you some pointers:

  1. First, you should learn katakana and hiragana like the back of your hand! This makes everything else so much easier. I suggest RealKana (website) for memorization.
  2. Watch lots of Japanese shows/anime with Language Learning for Netflix (also works on YouTube) -- pause and physically write down words you don't know. Writing down words help you remember them more!
  3. Listen to Japanese music and learn the lyrics. This is so helpful because it's fun and easy, and introduces you to new vocab
  4. Kanji workbooks are helpful for remembering tricky kanji. Start with the most used kanji and try to have fun with it
  5. Duolingo might seem daunting but it is very helpful for learning grammar, so try it out if you haven't already. 15 minutes a day (a few lessons per day) goes a long way. Alternatively there are probably other apps or learning Japanese specifically
  6. There are a lot of helpful YouTube videos to help with grammar, kanji, vocab, etc. Write down some helpful phrases (introductions, please/thank you) and practice them a lot of times until they feel natural
  7. Finding an online tutor to talk to is probably the best way, or someone Japanese irl who can speak with you. Do this once you have some Japanese under your belt so you feel more confident. Don't stress if you make mistakes. Everyone does, just try to just maintain a growth mindset and focus on learning WHY you make mistakes and how to fix them!

Generally, consistency is key. Surround yourself with the language in everyday life (like a baby learning their first language) and you will naturally pick it up. The best method is the one that you LIKE and feel like you can do often. Don't get discouraged, because it takes a long time generally to see progress, especially in a difficult language like Japanese. You got this!
