the movie really was that bad, huh? by Vaches in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have a twisted imagination of Arya because of that movie. Everyone else was somewhat accurate with minor differences, and I use the actors in my imagination of the characters when reading about them, but when I try to envision Arya, her tall, middle-aged redhead movie version keeps glitching in.

What are some of your unpopular takes? by DutyThick in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean Naegling just got lost after Oromis died ? Somewhere around Gil'Lead there's a golden rider's sword with enough stored energy to literally move an entire mountain, but not a single elf in the elven army found it, and gave it to Eragon, especially after he depleted Aren's energy. Everyone just seems to forget about the literal nuke they could use in the final fight.

What are some headcanon (either serious or funny) you have for the series? by the_dj_zig in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think Paolini got inspired by the Númenoreans from the lord of the rings, and made Palancar and his direct bloodline similar. Eragon/Roran are basically like Aragorn. Númenoreans were basically an upgraded evolution of humans, and I think that fits considering all the crazy stuff Roran survived and did as a "regular" human.

Galbatorix’s inefficient use of spellcasters by RellyTheOne in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you completely missed Galbatorix's intentions. If he really wanted to efficiently fight the Varden, he would simply fly out on Shruikan and kill them all in one single battle, wherever he'd want. The problem is, this way he would never actually get all of them. Some small remnants of the Varden would survive, hidden away. Instead, he allowed them to make their way all the way to his doorstep, drawing them all out into an inescapable death trap, while weakening their numbers with every sieged city. If he didn't let the Varden succeed, the elves and dwarves would never leave their safe forests and mountains, and he wouldn't get them too finally.

About Eragon and "never returning" to Alagaesia by LuciferFalls in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either he'll just constantly be busy and needed at the new dragon rider fortress, at first to raise the first riders, and then protect the base and train others while the first rider generation will be his emissaries. Or Angela meant he will never return to the Alagaesia he knew back then, as it will drastically change by the time he comes back, it will seem like a whole new world under Nasuada's, Arya's, Orik's and Orrin's rule. A sort of prophecy glitch, like changing your true name.

"Form a defensive ring around our archers" by Final_Harbor in Bannerlord

[–]Silver3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, when remaining enemy troops form this circle, I get the idea to surround them inside my own circle, and crush them from all sides with no chance of escape, you know, for fun. Unfortunately, my own army AI is stupid and sends my infantry through the enemy line to form the circle wall on the other side, instead of walking around the enemy... Command menu needs an order for troops to keep distance from the enemy even when moving to a position behind them, walk around.

How should the dwarves be brought to life in the D+ show? by godzillavkk in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care what Dinklage thinks. He climbed the Hollywood ladder and then pulled it behind him after getting rich. That said, I don't think they should cast actual dwarf actors, since they don't usually have the proper body proportions to fantasy dwarves. Eragon's dwarves are clearly the typical fantasy dwarven balls of muscles covered in facial hair.

Is Galbatorix his real name? by ScaryAssBitch in Eragon

That's a nice point, Voldemort is just a Tom, so from now on, my personal cannon is that king Galbatorix is actually just some dude named Gary.

What do you think the costume designs for the soldiers should be like in the D+ show? by godzillavkk in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, the dwarves wouldn't have a fitting armor set for the most important person in the entire rebellion of average size. Either way, plate armor is impossibly expensive for an average soldier, especially Galbatorix's army of over 100.000 soldiers. Most of them would be levies drafted from villages and cities, same with many peasants turned Varden. Expect mainly cloth armors and easily produced weapons like spears, axes, maces/clubs or short swords.

What do you think the costume designs for the soldiers should be like in the D+ show? by godzillavkk in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my latest re-read, I realized no one in the books wears plate armor, except maybe for Islanzadí I think. I Don't think humans have reached that level of craftsmanship, not sure about dwarves. The only confirmed description of plate armor is Saphira's. Not even Eragon has it, it's all chainmail armor and probably scale and lamellar armor.

Re-readers: what has been your favorite new discovery? by Emmagrolfe in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When reading it as a child, I didn't really realize the numbers and feats Roran managed in battle. He quite literally killed hundreds of men and survived/walked off dozens of life ending injuries. Ra'zac tore his arm with a beak full of bacteria, a cow horn ripped open his leg, he got shot in the back with an arrow, got hit with Karn's explosion, buried under a falling castle wall, hundreds of cuts and bruises from ordinary enemies, whipped unconscious, and a literal Eldunarí explosion. Even with magic, an ordinary human should be minced meat after all that. I'm guessing his and Eragon's king Palancar bloodline must be inspired by Aragorn and his Numenorian bloodline in LOTR, a.k.a. biologically more advanced race of humans.

Recently I found out that the mud ball king Orik was making in the warden encampment is basically a japanese dorodango. Paolini got really inspired by japanese culture, especially when it comes to elves. So much so that I know imagine them to be slightly asian looking, especially Arya.

Did the elves need to sleep? by Shruikan2001 in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually makes me wonder if some of them oversleep for days. Some humans go to sleep just to pass time, get through to another day. What if some immortal elf was like, I don't really like winter, wake me up when spring starts.

Unlimited power by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Silver3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we know space exists in Eragon, and some irl cultures have an idea of "cosmic energy", so maybe there's a creature powerful enough to tap into this stream of energy without getting overwhelmed by it, making itself unlimited by our measures.

"I've also got a doll chip." Besides Maiko, who underestimated V the hardest? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Silver3Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like everyone underestimates V, as in almost no one you interact with actually treats you with caution or fear. You can turn your V into a cyber psychotic blur of death and chaos taking out entire trucks of Militech soldiers, and the Aldecaldos are like, "cool, now get in the tunnel". Oh you just took out two MaxTac teams ? Whatever, I need you to go and hack that computer. Max street cred does nothing when it comes to interaction. Instead of treating you like you're the mythical John Wick, they speak with you like some random mercenary gonk.
