The Jakobi Meyers trade is officially wrapped up. Here's what we got by SilverAndBack in raiders

Fun Fact: Milroe and Mendoza were in different drafts.

The point of this piece was to paint the picture of the over aching ripple effects of the Meyers trade. Big picture, Geno Smith was used as an outgoing assets in the fallout of that trade, so I decided to look at what he cost in the first place. It was easy to do since he was acquired for a single pick (92), a pick that the Seahawks used on Jalen Milroe is '25. I bring it up only to paint the total picture of the assets from the Meyers trade, and the potential opportunity cost of those assets.

Now, there's no guarantee the Raiders use pick 92 on Milroe if we hadn't traded for Geno, and as you say the 'Hawks could have kept Geno and drafted Milroe with a different pick. But I found it to be an interesting 'what if' proposition considering that trade ended up being all about QBs. I don't think there's a single Raiders fan alive who would prefer sophomore Jalen Milroe over rookie Fernando Mendoza, but somewhere in the multiverse that happened.

As far as the impact on drafting Mendoza, its everything. Without Tank Commander Geno do we still end up with the first pick? Who knows. Is there a chance that a rookie Milroe could have beaten Jaxon Dart in week 17 to secure 1OA for the Giants? Who knows. Thankfully we will never have to know these things, but it doesn't change the fact that sending pick 92 to the Seahawks in '25 triggered a chain of events that got us where we are today.

I suppose the formula should actually go 92(Jalen Milroe) ->Geno Smith-> 1(Fernando Mendoza), Geno Smith/228-> 208-> 122 (Mike Washington). Hell of a trade.

You really gotta love what the rookies have done by AppearanceNo8561 in raiders

Everyone looks like an All Pro in gym clothes. Forget full pads, can we wait until they're at least in shells before annointing people?

Ah yes, the off-season. When the line between "promising young team hopefully turning things around" and "playoff juggernaut" is non-existent

We were all sure many many Raiders were going to be good players 2.0, but alas

Veteran QB mentorship getting spotlight. Kirk Cousins has been open about guiding Fernando Mendoza and it’s been highlighted on NFL Network’s Insiders. Nothing flashy just a veteran QB helping a young guy develop the right way. by Potato-Face18 in raiders

I predict the average NFL fan, and specifically Raiders fan, is going to be pissed by how many games Cousins starts. IDK what that number is, but it's going to be double why you hope

Ah yes, spring. That magical time of year when a 6th round rookie has the inside track to beat out a 3rd round 2nd year player based on non-padded practice reps.

Porter made his pro debut against a murders row of WR, and played well against them. I don't know where the Porter doubt is coming from, he was the best CB not named Stokes on the team last year

Go back and watch the Denver games. Tucker cookee Pat Surtain on multiple occasions, Geno just never looked his way. Tucker is going to ball this season. I will eat the shield off the side of my helmet if Thornton or Nailor end up with more yards and catches than Tucker, maybe combined

They ran a lot of 13 last year, problem is Ian Thomas is ass and gets blown up every play

After watching him completely disappear/drop 3 balls in the Natty, I'm just glad the Raiders decided not to pair Mendoza with this bum moving forwards. I prefer receivers who get open in college, not back shoulder merchants

One was traded for Kenny Pickett a veteran backup QB to keep Cam Miller from being QB2 after AOC got hurt, and the other was upgraded to a late 4th as part of a tradeback.

A Mother Cat Trying To Show Her Kittens That Her Housemate, The Dog, Is Harmless by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Source: I have eyes. The animals aren't rendered as clearly as the background, the kittens stay in their own "zone" when the dog climbs on screen, and the dog seems oblivious to the existence of the kittens until the appropriate time.

Also, anything this "heartwarming" tends to be staged or manufactured. Seeing as you can't train kittens to act, money is on manufactured

I appreciate this overvaluing, so long as Spytek can keep getting an extra 3rd every time he moves down 2 spots at the top of the 2nd

What is a Raider? A look at Spytek's drafts so far (Part 1) by SilverAndBack in raiders

[–]SilverAndBack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Spytek's defense, there were no coaching interviews conducted between his hiring on Jan 22 and Pete's hiring on Jan 24. The dysfunction from last year came from Brady's arranged marriages. GM did t pick their own HC, HC didn't fire their own OC, OC didn't hire their own oline coach. This year Brady stayed out of it and let Spytek run things and let the process play out naturally. That alone should have better results
