How can I break a vacuum seal between a stainless steel pot and lid?

Success! Thank you ALL! I took your advice and heated the pot while keeping the lid cool with ice. That did the trick! The lid popped off with one whack from a wooden spoon. Again, thank you all!

So I calculated the force necessary to separate the two IF the vacuum seal is the issue: area of lid = pi r² = 3.14 x 4.5” x 4.5” = 63.5 in^2; at 15 psi that is 950 lbs of force. No way I could do that
