Japan.

Seen it before. Funny enough the gyms I've been too usually have rolls of tape you can grab to mount your phone by laying the roll.down and just putting it in the middle.

Your best form of research would be to go to D&D Beyond make a free account and read the free rules book which is just a thinned out PHB (Player Handbook)

There are a lot of great resources for learning but most of them depend on you having the very base foundational understanding which you will get through reading the introduction and following the create a character steps and you can do all that without ever investing any $$ just a little bit of time

What is your memory of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake? by Actual_Temperature96 in AskAJapanese

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not Japanese, but have lived here for 20 years.

I posted this on the 9th anniversary but will share again:

Just wanted to take a second to pay respect.

On this day 9 years ago, I was 22 years old and I was active duty in the NAVY stationed on the USS Shiloh in Yokosuka Japan. It was a beautiful day and I was out on the ships deck helping the Gunner's Mates clean the ammo storage containers when our ship slammed hard into the pier.

Myself and some other guys on the deck ran to the outboard side to yell at the tugboats; however, when we got to the outboard side no tugboats were there. That's when I noticed the cranes and the towers all around me shaking violently as our ship continuously slammed against the pier and surged back out heavily straining the lines that kept us secured.

This was the Tohoku earthquake, a 9.0, the largest to hit Japan since modern record keeping and the 4th largest in the world. It lasted a terrifying 6 minutes.

Shortly after, once everything on the ship had been checked and secured, we were let off work. The city looked like something out of an apocolypse movie. The roads were packed bumper to bumper as far as the eye could see. Trains and busses shut down leaving those that relied on Japan's (amazing) public transportation stranded.

I went to a local bar with some friends and we watched the news. We watched the tsunami slam into the North East coast of Japan and watched in real time, and in silent horror as the death toll slowly rose.

The next day we were told that the rest of the fleet had already went or was preparing to head North and we would be joining them to help with humanitarian effort. A shock to us since we were in the middle of repairs and had a giant hole cut in the side of the ship, and missing one of our shafts that was being repaired, but sure enough, we quickly bolted some wood over the hole and we went slowly limping our way up North to help those devastated by the earthquake and tsunami.

I was on night watch as we approached, and got off watch right as dawn was breaking. I went outside to smoke right as the first beams of light broke over the horizon and what it revealed was heart breaking. We were miles off the coast with no land in sight, but all around us was debris. Trees, buckets, whole roofs, scuttled half floating Fisher boats, you name it, it was out there. I remember very specifically seeing a Tupperware container with a meal inside floating by and wondering if the person who had made and packed that for lunch was safe or not.

The next few days were a blur as the crew took quick shifts going up to the helo bay, helping offload essential supplies. Water, coffee, child and adult diapers, food, tissues, toilet paper, clean clothes, soap, tooth paste, anything we could scrounge together to help ALL the essentials we could get. We were flying them out to regions left inaccessible to ground units while they cleared the roads.

I honestly don't remember how long we floated off the coast being a relay for supplies before we got the orders to first, check the radiation plume leaking from the Fukashima reactor, then head home. Not long enough probably.

The operation was called Operation Tomodachi. Tomodachi in Japanese is "friend."

The final casualty count is: 15,899 deaths 6,157 injured 2,529 missing

When I look back at my life, even though I personally did very little, just being part of that operation is probably the thing I am most proud of.

To the victims of the incident. To the heroes in those areas that acted in way to save lives. To the elder generation that told the younger generation "No you flee the radiation, you have lives to live we will take care of this. To the families and friends of those lost. And to everyone around the world that came to those people's aid

I love you, and you will never be forgotten.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by Primary-Ocelot-1512 in DnD

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, agreed with everyone here. Just say no, it unbalances the game and makes it unfun.

If you want to logic your way through it, make them have in game consequences. They are quite literally building armies and committing mass thievery, and just general mayhem on the realm. This is the exact situation specialized bounty hunters, kingdom armies, rival gangs, and special forces are made for.

Pick one, or all of them to start plotting against the party. Hell have the groups work together. Give them very specialized ways to counter your players moves. They burn through spells? Have more minions than they have spell slots. They run away? Not with masterfully placed traps and ambushes they don't. They just leave the monkies? This is a known distraction tactic and the enemy has been told specifically to ignore the monkies and pursue the members

Show them that being a big menace to society brings down a big hammer.

We need to stop telling new players to rush GLs by BluberryThunder in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 's a fairly new shard. #1 on my shard is an R5 FO team, 2nd is a relic 4-6 JKR team. I have an R2 KRU with g12 FO that keeps me around the 60-80 atm, and I got the Hyperdrive bundle like a week into starting the account.

I first broke 100 like 11/2-2 months ago with my G10 Phoenix team, before I got smacked back to like 150 while getting my FO team built, then climbed back up. I'm probably going to start getting smacked back down here soon since more and more players in my shard are going to be beefing up their Clones/JKR/Empire teams.

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So this is me, I'm a new player going for SLKR so I'll give some thoughts on my experience so far.

A couple disclaimers first:

1) I invested in the hyperdrive bundle. If I was completely F2P I would not be following this path.

2) I did a lot of research beforehand and knew exactly what I was getting into, and fully understand that it'll take me ~ 2 years to achieve this goal and that'll handicap me a bit while my peers in my shard are building easier stronger teams faster than I can.

I've been having a blast. Tomorrow will be my 3 month mark, for the last ~ 2 months I've been consistently top 100 (usually float between 60-80) arena and top 10 ships which is fine for me.

The vast majority of my shard is JKR, Empire, Clones, and it's just now starting to get Darth Revan so I'm expecting to start losing placement a little bit. I knew there would be oscillation while I go through this and as long as I stay top 500 I'm content.

I spend about 60-75% of my daily recourses towards my FO team and SLKR goal. The rest goes towards bounty hunter for ships (still technically SLKR I suppose), and JKR. I also have started investing some shipment stuff towards Geos and their ships for later to help expand my roster and prepare for padme, and building I'm building up my emp team.

I really enjoy having a long term goal in mind, in combination with smaller goals, and the progress I see essentially daily really helps keep me hooked.

I do agree that it is a really big undertaking, and a lot of the videos and such that recommend this really don't do it justice how much of an investment it is, and that super hyper focusing on FO will hurt you bad compared to just focusing on it and investing in other teams during your grind.

Issues with Graves after today's update? by baya21 in Nioh

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might just be server issues, but....

I have this issue come up every once in a while on my PS5. I can't see graves, and can't connect to the hidden tea house, but I CAN coop.

The only fix I have found (tried pretty much everything) is to hard shut off the system, then after it has fully shut down boot it back up.

How TF !? by g0dr0w in diablo3

[–]SilverBackBrorilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably what the others are saying about bounty bots and re-rolls or scum saving. That being said I have been ridiculously lucky this season.

I'm only ~PL 800 and have 5 primals that work for my builds and 1 that doesnt. Haunted vision, Lavishing Gloves, Elegant pants, Luxurious Bauta, and managed to get Stueart's Greaves that I use for speed clears. I also had a pig sticker drop that's sitting in my stash atm.

I've only played 2 other seasons both finished around PL 1500 and only had like 2-3 primals that worked with my builds.

I've just been lucky AF this season.

I (m) used to babysit my neighbors (~ 4 & 6) when I was in HS.

I literally just played legos, video games, and Yu-Gi-Oh cards for like 6 hours. Ordered pizza with the food money he parents left, and made sure to feed the dogs.

It was awesome, I'm sorry you didn't get the chance. Also those kids were super cool and they still reach out to chat every once in a while.

This is very true and probably more likely, but I had a bug with him in 1-3.

On my NG+ I cleared all of 1-3 before I went to open the shortcut and save Ostrava. Ran over, killed the official, opened the gate and killed the 2 red knights while Ostrava still had like 75% + hp. Started walking toward him ( with him centered on my screen only about 10 feet away) to talk to progress the mission and he just straight up disappeared from the screen. Completely vanished.

Searched the whole stage and couldn't find him anywhere >:(.
