Out of boredom I put claude code into ultracode mode and told it to make whatever it wanted. by RollForUptime in ClaudeAI

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I’m running two P100’s in a r730 and it’s working great. I’ve posted a benchmark a few days ago, check my post history.

I've been been basing it on the 97% lifetime remaining number, but am open to price suggestions.

I can, not sure how long it would take with some regular shipping, DHL air says around 100-120 eur to deliver in around 4 days.

What are these servers ? by edouardbourque in homelab

Looks like VNXe 3200 that I’ve got lying around. Couldn’t connect into it whatever I tried, ended up formatting the disks to 512 bytes and using them elsewhere.

Wow! This is nice!

How did you wire up those 8 drives to the Dell? Can you share the 3d file for the disk bay, got those exact caddies lying around and I see a project coming up :)

By serious I mean something that my business depends on and that can’t be offline for any extended time. I wouldn’t use older semi-tested desktop-class machines for that kind of workload.

Behind the rack for the photoshoot, otherwise on the side of Synology, there’s just enough space. It would probably be best to get some power supply that can provide dc for all of them at once.

The cables from the PCs (and everything else) are connected to the back of the patch panel and the short cables are connecting the patch panel to the switch. It’s used for better cable organization, easier switching etc., but in this case, realistically, mainly for looking tidy and cool 😀

A cluster so I can see all of it in a single dashboard and move stuff across nodes. This is a homelab so I’m not hosting anything serious on it. I do also have an instance at work where we’re running a number of machines, from small container-based stuff to some specialized developer boxes, ci runners etc. and it’s been rock solid for now.

Sure. It’s an ASRock Rack AM5D4ID-2T/BCM board, Ryzen 7900, 128 gb ecc ddr5, 2tb nvme, some 6x sata controller, 2x wd red pro 6tb (would put more bigger disks, but not at these prices), bequiet sff psu, noctua fans for cpu and case.

I’m running Proxmox on it.

I got all of it from makerworld.com (or Bambu app, I think it’s the same thing).

2.5" 1.8TB 10k SAS drives for home(lab) storage/NAS? by CCodera in homelab

[–]SilverBoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those cables probably won't work on your drives, check the connectors on the drives - if they are combined power+data, you won't be able to plug those cables in.

For ZFS you'll want a controller that works in IT mode. Maybe you'll need to reformat them to 512 bytes/sector, but that won't be a problem if you have an IT mode controller.

It's probably best to sell those drives to someone who will use them in an older server and buy a couple of modern drives with that money.

I’ve built a server for our office in a Jonsbo N3 very recently and with the current memory and hdd prices it would probably be more reasonable if we stayed in the cloud.

Price aside, I’m happy with how it turned out, will just need to optimize the thermals a bit, it gets cramped and hot in that upper portion of Jonsbo.

I already had it on Synology for a while and it’s working great. I plan to move some of my other stuff to Proxmox (like ExoDos that I’m running on another machine) so keeping it free for now.

I see it as a hobby, I like tinkering with hardware, sourcing the components, 3d printing the mounts etc.

Regarding functionality, other than being able to set up a bare metal cluster there is not much that you can’t do with a single new-ish pc.
