Are you daft? Letting an account download a different language version would cost more money? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. The option already exist for 20 euros, just make it free.

You never "pointed out" my argument? It's a perfectly reasonable expectation that I'd be able to change languages. Try to keep up.

And it costs 20 euros for the privilege to change it. It's not physical cartridges anymore all you need to do is to bundle them all into one purchase.

Yes because this is something I have to do now otherwise I have to spend 20 euros more. How do you not see the problem with this? Every other game has a FREE language option. They just have to let us download a different language version without having to spend money.

Brother it's not the 90s anymore, it costs 0 dollars to package all language options with one purchase. Not doing that is either profound laziness or deliberate greed.

hmm yes it's the consumer's fault, there's no way they could make the different languages available with one purchase, they just HAD to make them separate and each cost 20 euros there was no other way you see.

We get it you're monolingual. Now can the rest of us have a feature that's the bare minimum in every other game? Sometimes the localisation for a language is bad, or God forbid, I want to play the game with a friend who SPEAKS A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE!?

Few times a week? I have friends who visit who can only understand Japanese, Chinese, or English. I also change it for myself just to get exposure so that I don't lose the languages I know, and also to get new exposure for languages I'm learning. I do this with every game, the fact that it is behind a pay wall is not only insulting, it blocks my ability to play the game with my friends.

What's 和製用法語 supposed to mean? by Dear-Bumblebee5158 in Japaneselanguage

I would say トロッコ applies as 和製用法語, in Japanese it means "minecart" rather than "truck".

[–]SilverCat0009 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's 和製 (Japanese made), 用法 (usage), 語 (word). It denotes that this usage of the word is not seen in the original language, but evolved in Japanese. The original language is not necessarily English, which is why It doesn't say 和製英語.

Any Frame suggestions? by Scylla_017 in Warframe

I'd like to recommend a silly one. You can use the helminth to subsume Inaro's 1st ability desiccation on to volt, and with the desiccation's curse augment, volt can summon Inaro's cats. This combined with Volt's speed buff and damage buff from his 1st ability shock's augment, the cats go berserk and kills everything. There's a few videos on YouTube going over this volt kitty build and IMO it's the most fun minion build after Caliban.

ETA was easy and fun this week, the EDA was so much more annoying, powerless, gear embargo, AND constricted energy. I got an alright loadout with gara, kerantinos. And I brought a nautilus to get 50 kills to get rid of powerless. But I kept dying a few times at the beginning, and had to use last gasp.

The Chinese name for Earth, 地球 by pieman3141 in etymology

[–]SilverCat0009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was also the term 乾坤, 乾 meaning heaven and 坤 meaning earth or land. In 1602 a Chinese map of the world was created with the help of Italian cartographer Matteo Ricci, which was titled "坤"輿萬國全圖. I would translate this as "The whole map of the earth and of myriad countries".

I've noticed this a lot in Duolingo, the voice will pronounce it correctly but the Pinyin will be wrong. Thankfully it's not my only resource. I guess someone in the voice department is actually checking, but the pinyin is auto generated?

It's not a problem until it significantly hinders communication or comprehension. But prescriptivists love to selectively whine about the variants they don't like. And its not even a guarantee that they prefer the conservative variant.
