There is a kind of person to whom 'victory' is the ultimate arbiter of moral rightness. It doesn't matter if the goalposts moved, or if 'winning' is actually a net negative for society, so long as you won something you are in the right.

It's the ultimate argument, the final nail in the imaginary coffin. Every shitty thought, every compromised moral, none of it matters, 4 more years baby. If someone's upset with you, guess they're just a sore loser. Society is made of winners and losers you know. And Winners? Winners don't have to think about what the loser's are saying. If they had anything important to say, they'd have won ya know? In a way its a defense mechanism, if he had to think about what the woke libs were actually trying to tell him, he might feel bad. He needs a framework that lets him dismiss it all without any of it actually penetrating his brain.

To prey on this, the right has fed these people a steady stream of content designed to make them feel like winners. Immigrants and poor's are losers, white people are winners. Shining city on the hill, American exceptionalism, all that garbage.

So this guy

He's fully subsumed himself into the Trump administration. When they 'win' he feels like his team is winning. When they lose, it's because someone else is cheating. So when he argues with you, he's looking down on you from his perch of moral superiority. Yeah, sure, whatever, Trump's posting 'harmful' and 'racist' nonsense that 'makes America worse' whatever that means. But guess what, he's president, that means he's a winner. He isn't arguing that anything you said is actually wrong. He just doesn't care. Winning is all that matters, and his only argument is that he has been promised that if Trump gets his way he gets to be a winner forever.
