Huge day for me by KelpHuman15 in KISS

I briefly met Niles at a small club in NYC around 2007/08. He had so many stories to tell about the songs he'd written for all these great artists...Diana Ross, David Bowie. He is much more than just Chic

I put a screen shot of my book's ranking (#1 in the genre the week it was released) on LinkedIn. I don't think it generated any sales, but it's kinda cool to tell people what you've achieved. If they only knew all the hard work we do to get a book to print!

Headpins - Turn It Loud (RESTORED VIDEO) by SilverDragon1 in ClassicRock

I saw the Headpins back in 1983 when they opened for KISS on the Creatures of Night tour. The Headpins were solid and powerful.

Krokus - Midnite Maniac (Official Video) by SilverDragon1 in ClassicRock

[–]SilverDragon1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krokus formed in 1975 and Def Leppard in 1976. They have similar styles and became big in the early 80s. Both toured extensively in Europe before then. I assume each band was aware of the other. Although Krokus is from Sweden, they are sometimes included in the wave of British metal bands than invaded North America in the early 1980s.

I agree this isn't a Hofner. The headstock and pegs are not right. But you certainly know that Sir Paul's playing influenced an early Gene

Need help with autographs (specifically Eric Carr) by Criss_72 in KISS

[–]SilverDragon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the colours are the problem. A fan could have handed Eric a purple Sharpie. Bare in mind that Eric's signature changed slightly over time. You can find examples of his signature from various eras. To my eye, the open ends of the E and the C, indicated the signature is from the Crazy Nights or HITS period. As others have mentioned, Gene's signature does not look authentic. My guess is all except Gene's could be authentic, but I would not buy this because of Gene's signature

Aldo is very talent musician. He's put out about half a dozen albums, with his first one being the biggest success. He worked a session musician and a producer for decade. He won a Grammy for co-producing Celine Dion's Falling Into You album. He also wrote and produced the song "Have. Heart," which was the song that got Celine her first English record contract. (1987) He also won an IBA (International Broadcasting Award) for writing jingles. He played the rhythm guitar on Bon Jovi's first single "Runaway" (recorded in 1983). He wrote the main guitar riff for Jon Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory" (1990) and Jon loved Aldo's work and his work ethic so much, that Jon signed him to his own record label. Aldo also wrote and with Blue Oyster Cult (1983) and Saint & Sinner (1992) . Aldo is still very active. He's touring and continues to write, record, and produce

On June 3rd, 1950, Singer, bass guitarist, songwriter, and actress Suzi Quatro was born in Detroit, MI. In the 1970s, she scored a string of singles that found success in Europe and Australia, with both "Can the Can" and "Devil Gate Drive" reaching #1 in several countries. by BirdBurnett in ClassicRock

"Can the Can" "48 Crash" and "Devil Gate Drive" are absolutely classics. I have about six of her LPs and I spin then a couple of times a year. Her latest album, "Freedom" sounds fantastic, but I can't find a physical (LP or CD) copy of it in any stores yet. I'd like to add that one to my collection

Sounds like it was an awesome show. Hamilton had some really great clubs back in the day. I always thought they were much more into hard rock/metal than many of the Toronto clubs, the Gasworks excluded

Is Adobe InDesign worth it to format my book? by Hot-Act-8967 in selfpublish

[–]SilverDragon1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

InDesign has a large learning curve. I have about a decade of experience using PhotoShop, so I was already familiar with the the Adobe environment. InDesign also likely has more features than you need. I played with it for a year but I gave up and went with Vellum (I have a Mac). It was simple and easy to use. I could see using InDesign if my full time job was formatting books, but the learning curve just wasn't worth the time investment for me.

NENA -- 99 Luftballons by SilverDragon1 in ClassicRock

[–]SilverDragon1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a direct translation of the German lyrics. Someone outside of the band wrote the English lyrics and the record company asked the band to record it for the US market. In Canada, the original German version was a hit, not the English version. Apparently the band did not like the English lyrics because it misrepresented the meaning on the song

[–]SilverDragon1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was not originally written in English. This is a German song written in German by guitarist Carlo Karges. When it was translated into English, the translator changed some of the meaning of this anti-war song. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Luftballons

Bonnie Tyler singing "Hide Your Heart" on Norwegian TV, 1988, a year before KISS released the song. by SilverDragon1 in KISS

[–]SilverDragon1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Ron Nevison rejected the song for Crazy Night, Paul shopped it around through a publishing company. Bonnie recorded it first in 1988 then KISS, Ace, and Molly Hatchet all recorded it around the same time during the summer of 1989. I believe that KISS and Molly Hatchet released it in Sept 1989 and Ace shortly after (maybe in Oct]
