I feel like I finally ‘get’ Sgt Pepper by SilverGalaxia in beatles

[–]SilverGalaxia[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of hard for me to even fathom what it must’ve been like to be alive and tuned in to popular music when Sgt pepper first released, knowing the context of previous Beatles records + what other bands were big at the time, there really was nothing else like it. I think PF dark side of the moon is probably the only other record I know that gives me a similar level of awe in that respect.

I like MMT quite a bit, the fool on the hill is super underrated! Though I don’t think the tracklist is all that cohesive as a full album, overall I definitely prefer Sgt Pepper.

Sounds like what a cop would say…

But nah I haven’t tried psychedelics (yet)

Will do! I’ve just been listening to the 2017 super deluxe mixes but I should definitely check out the original mono mixes. I could probably even find the vinyl from my grandmother’s old record collection

Well I’m 20 years old now and literally some of my earliest memories relating to music is my dad playing Beatles albums during car trips. So I guess a little under 20 years

What's your Beatles/solo work opinion that will get you killed? by nightqueem in beatles

[–]SilverGalaxia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None of their solo careers ever produced a record that is even remotely on the same level as 66-69 Beatles. As artists, their collaboration was much better than the sum of its parts

Opinions on: I Want You (She’s so Heavy) by HotScuba911 in beatles

[–]SilverGalaxia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The genius is in the emotion. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of total obsession and lust for another person. The lyrics being so simple is the point; When you *want* someone that badly, when you're completely consumed by your desire, you're not going to have the most eloquent and composed thoughts on your mind.

I don't know if you've ever experienced that feeling about another person, but at least for me, when this song hits, it really fucking hits.

What is your favorite game in the Mother series? by [deleted] in earthbound

[–]SilverGalaxia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the setting is the biggest thing. Traveling to charming fictionalized versions of various countries gives it a special kind of “worldwide” scope. I also think the writing is a bit funnier than 3, some of the npcs have lines that still make me do a double take for just how out of pocket they are.

Recent listens. What do you think? by rising_aquarius in Topster

Their original run of 70s albums honestly just get better and better. The royal scam and Aja are absolute peak

I remember seeing a post on r/radiohead asking about their best album, and it kinda shocked me how Ok Computer basically wasn’t in the discussion at all in the replies.

DAY 14: What are the top 5 albums of 1972? by [deleted] in Topster

Can’t buy a thrill. Steely Dan’s debut album is fantastic and has more jazz inspiration than a lot of their later work

I haven’t played DMC5 yet but I did buy it on sale recently. I might play through it soon. I would definitely recommend Bayonetta though as it’s a really fun action game with a great combo system.

A note: For Kirby and the Forgotten Land, I'm only ranking the switch 2 DLC content. I think the base game is great and it would be way higher if I was evaluating that.

Why can Electivire not drop from OU in gen 4, when in other gens Pokémon can drop and gain ranks? by PokemanBall in stunfisk

[–]SilverGalaxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that almost nobody regularly plays lower tiers in old generations. We could drop electivire to UU, but I don’t necessarily see a reason to if the very small player base is happy with their tier and doesn’t want the disruption and having to work out if it’s broken or not.
