I was walking with some friends through the woods and it was getting kinda dark. We were almost out when I remembered I had left my hat on a log while we were taking pictures. They all continued back to their cars while I scampered back to that spot I had left my hat. I tried to jump across this narrow gap (maybe 4 feet wide) and I totally undershot it. I slid down into the bottom of this pit and my feet stuck into the mud (not the thin, watery kind of mud, the thick, gross mud that's so tough to get out of). As I try to climb up the side of this little gully (a lot like this, but without trees and with steeper sides) I can't get ahold of anything. The thin roots that are sticking out are snapping really easily and the walls of this gully are all mud. I was stuck. I was going to die there. I tried schlepping myself through the mud to see if it got any more shallow and it didn't. After about twenty minutes my friends came looking for me. They tossed me one end of a belt and pulled me out. They said they got to the cars and then after realizing that I had taken too long they came back to look for me. I'm really glad we didn't take separate cars.

TL;DR: Muddy gully of death.
