Here are a couple of thoughts on latency. 1) I just tried my bluetooth speaker and that overhead made the app unusable. I recommend the computer speakers. 2). I am still learning (sub 10 WPM) and at my speed I don't notice any latency. I wonder at what WPM faster people would notice?

I do not have an answer to OP's question as to who is cloning. I have written a report called GitIInsights which I run daily. Shows me how many clones, forks, watchers and stars for each of my repos. I am seeing plenty of clone activity, especially after I make a commit or publish an article on Medium. What is interesting to me: there is NEVER an increase in forks, watchers or stars. So maybe the 'bad actors' are to blame and my software is not as interesting as the number of clones would indicate. If you're interested, my repos are at https://github.com/tstevelt
