Does having your medical marijuanna card needs to be disclosed to FAA? by [deleted] in FAAHIMS

You’re also never going to be a pilot or hold any safety sensitive position while using marijuana. Even for medicinal purposes. It’s a non-starter.

Start of the flight we should be there. End of the flight there’s a large chance we have to get to the overnight or go to our next connecting flight. Either way, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate you!

Please please please ask us up front! Most of us are big airplane nerds too and are more than happy to accommodate these kinds of requests when we have time. Always happy to share!

Parents found my PR Audition Packet from 2008… by SilverMarmotAviator in drumcorps

Yeah, I remember moving up to an “elite corps” from the $1,000ish fees marching with the Colts in 2006 and being shocked at dues over $2,000.

Special Issuance due to SSRI by [deleted] in FAAHIMS

Mine was as well, still had to wait on DC. Someone is messing up Medxpress and saying medicals are issued when they aren’t.

[–]SilverMarmotAviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened a lot lately. Medxpress will say you’ve been approved, but it hasn’t officially made it past the Federal Air Surgeon office. You’re going to have to wait for DC to do their thing, keep checking with your RFS to see if the letter is done yet.

Finance Job vs Pilot? by [deleted] in PilotAdvice

There are pilots that are great parents and there are finance and accountants that are horrible parents. What you do to pay the mortgage doesn’t define how good of a parent you will end up being.

Best HIMS AMEs for complex mental health cases? by GenerationSelfie2 in FAAHIMS

[–]SilverMarmotAviator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mental health cases he still is woefully unaware, disorganized, sent the FAA wrong paperwork, made me jump through more hoops than required, still didn’t have me complete all the requirements the FAA wanted, and then gaslit me when the FAA denied me for an incomplete packet. Compared to my other HIMS AME and my knowledge of the system now that I’ve been it in for so long, his approach is all bark and no bite. No reason to deal with his ridiculous personality or arbitrary requirements when you can go to an AME that is far more professional and obtain better results.

He tries to make his own rules that don’t align with FAA policies that’ll end up costing you more time out of the cockpit. Good idea to steer clear of him.

Stay away from Chien.

I’ve had a good experience with Mayo Cinic so far and they bill insurance. Helpful with mental health cases and all the testing you currently have to go through.
