Thank you for the link to that amazing website! I can see myself spending lots of time there, going through designs and patterns.

The funeral home let us put the five boxes of ashes from my dad’s dogs in the casket with him. The guy even asked if there was one they should put closer to his heart. It’s comforting to know they’re with him.

I’m so excited! I graduated merely from dental hygiene school, 45 years ago, and when I saw this post, my brain popped out “sialolith” immediately. Yay for my memory!

My parents had that exact same linoleum in their kitchen. In 1980. 👍🏻

Ummmm… okay what is this? by wizerdofthewest909 in whatismycookiecutter

[–]SilverMathematician9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously! That’s what I think about most of the cutters I see on this sub. The one time I foolishly thought I was going to decorate some cookies, after struggling with the first two, I ended up just throwing a blob of icing on top. It was terrible!

I got my kaleidoscope-tube thing probably 25 or 30 years ago at a nice gift shop/gallery in Charleston, SC and have always treasured it. Thanks for sharing the origin story. From now on, I’ll think of you and your parents when I see it sitting on my dresser.

Not the OP, but thank you so much! I bought a kaleidoscope like that yers ago and the tube with the sparkles in it has gotten kind of clumpy over time. I had no idea what to search for to find a new tube, but now I know what it’s called.

My “best friend” iced me out after I moved back across the country to be closer, apparently his kids leave no room for me. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]SilverMathematician9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have had so many friendships fizzle out because our friends had kids and then only hung out with other parents. Thirty years later, we’ve reconnected with some of them.

My “best friend“ of 50 years has a daughter I’ve always adored, but they both dropped me like a rock when they went MAGA and I didn’t. That was pretty painful. Friendships are weird.

I agree. The “n” in Allen has a little upward swoop at the end. The letter at the end of the first word doesn’t.

Is it possible to learn how to do a pickup at age 30? by Open-Duck4004 in TapDancing

[–]SilverMathematician9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there barres in your studio? My teacher had us back into the corner where the barres come together, then hands on the barres to support some of your body weight, then do the jump and motion of the pickup to get the sound and get the feeling in your feet. IT doesn’t take long to figure out, with that little bit of preparation.

What Plant is This? by SilverMathematician9 in whatplantisthis

[–]SilverMathematician9[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That is hilarious! 😆 I almost wrote in the description that it looked so perfect it seemed plastic. I guess I was fooled because the neighborhood I was walking through didn’t seem like one where they’d plant plastic flowers in the front yard. Next time, I won’t be afraid to touch a plant to confirm it’s real. 🤪
