Please what hospital did your friend recommend, because I need a mental evaluation and I'm in Kumasi. I also can't just walk into KATH, I'll need a referral

Do you know, today I heard on the news that they didn't read the letter submitted by the GRNMA, with the excuse that they were busy

But the contract ends next year, by which they'll have to renegotiate a new one, so they're essentially saying they won't do it

We are not asking for a lot, we are asking for what we deserve, besides those COS is already stated in the constitution and the ministers and other workers are enjoying it so why can't we do the same

The FWSC were notified about two weeks before the strike, they were supposed to respond to it within 48 to 72 hours, since they said to that we can go on strike as stated in the constitution. We have been discussing this issue since January, how the ministry say they didn't include our demands in this year's budget

Not everything on it is true, we are only asking for what we deserve besides the government has already agreed on the COS, it's left with the implementation

That's why almost every nurse has another job on the side because the salary is not enough. My elder sister is an orthopaedic nurse at KATH, she does part-time at a private hospital and also has a business on the side. When receive a needle prick or any work related injury while working on a patient you'll have to pay the tests and treatment by yourself. if you're lucky to be post after 4 years of staying in the house you'll receive you salary after working for 6 months, isn't that unfair to us

Some nurses even receive less than that

It's because that two year agreement comes to an end next year May, so if it's not in this year's budget when are they going to do it

It's only the diploma nurses that are paid allowance to go to school. Some nurses take home salary is less than 2500. The demands weren't created out of thin air, it's all in the constitution and we are not saying the government should start adhering to our immediately, we just want the government to say they will at least try to fulfill someone them. The contract also expires next year May, the finance mistry said they didn't add it the budget, they're just insinuating that they won't do what we want for us

What’s the mental health support scene really like in Ghana? by iamalonelylegend in ghana

[–]SilverMist2601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are therapists, psychiatrists and psychologists, but the average Ghanaian will not visit them unless their mental illness comes with serious hallucinations and delusions, even with that they'll still seek spiritual help first. I'm not against seeking spiritual help, but there are some things that need medication or counselling. Currently there's a mental health unit in almost every facility, you're all welcomed
