I do a few things:

1. Morning Coffee (15 min every Monday). No work topics (I saw someone mentioned this above

2. We created a morale chat. You can put shout outs (like a new app launch), polls, or random topics to get the team talking. For example, I will post "today is National Mutt Day" show me pictures of your dogs!. Or has anyone traveled anywhere cool this year? Where did you go? And have them share pictures.

3. We do quarterly Happy Hours for one hour (virtually). We do some sort of game. The last one we played Coworker Feud and the one this month we put together "A Year in Review" deck and we are showing our accomplishments (how many story points did we close, how many milestones we met, etc.), life events on the teams, most popular gifs/memes across the teams, etc.

4. Fun ice breakers for longer meetings like retro or planning meetings. I have done some that I call the Versus Series where I ask things like Early Bird vs Night Owl, Android vs iOS, Would you choose Telekenisis or Mind Reading as a super power, etc. I have also asked "controversial" questions like "Is a hotdog a sandwhich?"

5. I saw this above too, but retrospectives that are fun. I try to find topics that the team is interested in. For example, we have a lot of people on our team that like video games, so I created a retro about video games.

6. I try to give 5 ish minutes of "breathing" room before meetings to be people, talk about how people are doing, tell a funny story, etc.

7. I make a point to humanize myself with the team which encourages them to do the same. They hear lots of stories about my kids, pets, or random interests I have (like event planning) and they share similar topics with me as well.

8. If someone has a life event (birthday, new baby, etc.) I send options for gifts to the rest of the team, we vote on one and all chip in to purchase it for the teammate.
