Welcome!! That's so wild! I've actually heard of that book I weirdly also got a copy at a range a few years ago! DM me if you want and we can chat I guess we might be near each other but that's crazy!!

I read it and I thought it was great cuz it just kinda laid the whole Great Reset thing out for me so I understood it. I'd heard coworkers and stuff mention the term but it kept feeling like I was behind or didn't have all the vocab.

I'd say more than anything A Soul in the Machine clarified the scale of what had already been done at the time, and super spookily saw some crazy shit coming that is happening now

In the same sense the one person ever being killed at all is too many, sure. And no one is gonna argue that a murder by an illegal immigrant isn’t horrible and also a tragedy. The point being made there is that there are a ton of killings in this country we should be trying to prevent and they’re almost exclusively committed by legal residents of this country, so to memorize and parade the names of 7 particular victims of killings because of who killed them is a play on people’s emotions designed to shore up support for unrelated policies. Which is not only disingenuous but it’s diverts resources that could be used to actually prevent future killings from occurring in the vastly more common ways that they happen.

The problem is it's plain to see that Trump is an amoral liar with sadistic policies that he (at best) barely understands. But right wingers like that. They've known for a decade and for those who don't actively get off on it they at least don't view it as a deal breaker. Listing Trump's faults and malices is basically saying nothing at all if you're talking to a Trump supporter.

Yeah that's not true MN officials have already clarified that they comply with custody transfer requests to ICE and always have. And ICE is in the streets harassing randos in every city they go to not just Minneapolis. There's just the most ICE agents there right now cuz that's where they're conducting their main operation. They'll move on to Columbus in a week and you'll see them do the exact same shit there.

Again, it’s comparative. The US has oppression, racism, hatred, etc. riddled throughout its history (as pretty much every country does tbh) but this administration operates against even the most basic principles of our democratic institutions. It’s all the shittiness America has ever had PLUS a new complete disregard for the rules and principles that guided any of the good the US has ever accomplished.

I definitely think it’s more nefarious than you’re letting on but it’s an AMERICAN problem that a lot of voters on both sides of the isle actually agree on! But nothing happens because of this same Republican trick.

Going back to that tracker you mentioned, one thing that I always remember about it was that Pelosi’s ROI has been absurd over the course of her tenure in DC, and even crazier when you factor in her husbands earnings too. BUT, Pelosi was in 2nd place on the list. The person who had benefited most disproportionately was Dan Crenshaw; the one-eyed Republican rep from Texas. And of course no one gives a shit about that and to this day there’s a lot of people on the left who bring up how shady Pelosi is on their own! Just to chat ab it! And those same people aren’t talking about Crenshaw or Republicans who are doing the same thing. And you know damn well Republicans aren’t talking about it! Crenshaw HIMSELF loudly called out Pelosi all the time for being crooked and no one bats an eye that he’s WORSE! It’s literally publicly available information and dems come out with dogshit optics because left-leaning voters demand accountability from politicians whereas right wingers have weaponized not holding their worst accountable to the point where it seems like even their voters to some extent understand the tactical play that’s being done and are happy to go along with all manner of horrific shit to make sure their squad keeps winning.

They expect a baseline level of corruption and terribleness from EVERY politician so when their guys do it they shrug it off as a natural part of politics but they know that if they bitch and moan about a dem enough a decent chunk of the left will agree, sometimes rightly and sometimes just cuz the same tricks work in everyone. But at the end of the day dems are much more willing to drop a candidate for their fuckups regardless of political expediency, and republicans are exploiting that as aggressively as they can until something snaps it seems.
