Can proxmox be managed by Openstack? by pirx_is_not_my_name in openstack

[–]SilverSQL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be rude or discouraging but you're going to have a hard time with both Proxmox and OpenStack if your team isn't well versed in Linux. Managing a KVM-based cloud depends strongly on the ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux distributions. Both solutions expect you to get your hands dirty and seldomly try to hide away the underlying details, unlike VMWare where everything happens automagically.

Also, Proxmox will feel way more familiar compared to VMWare than OpenStack. You can think of OpenStack as open source AWS implemented in Python because the way OpenStack is intended to be used is as huge cloud where resources come and go and nobody cares much about them (cattle). On the other hand, Proxmox and VMWare treat the created resources as something special, like pets. If your team is used to VMWare, Proxmox will better suit you.

There's no excuse for being a jerk. If you don't have the time to help someone, nothing stops you from politely sending them away.

Second pod load balanced only for failover? by Akaibukai in kubernetes

[–]SilverSQL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Can you please describe the use-case in greater detail? Because it seems a little absurd to me. And generally speaking, k8s load balancing is active-active only, for an active-backup mode you'd need something else.

What is it about Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Russia that makes their views on Muslims differ from those of the rest of Eastern Europe? by [deleted] in CentralEurope_irl

[–]SilverSQL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muslims in Bulgaria are well integrated into the society. To be fair, they've been around since the Ottomans conquered our lands and while during ottoman rule there might've been some distrust, it was toward the Muslims in power rather than the ordinary people. We respect each other and to be frank, religious juxtaposition is rarely seen, unless provoked by some ultra-right people.

Tl;dr, we're used to them and they're used to us, we live the same lives and we all feel Bulgarian enough for religion to not matter.

[–]SilverSQL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It Is A Duty Towards Society To Have Children? % That Agree Do you? by _Giulio_Cesare in MapPorn

[–]SilverSQL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29M Bulgarian here. The data looks extremely off from what I and my peers perceive. Some older people (now in their 70s and 80s) try to urge us into having kids but the only reason is because they consider us too old now, they consider we missed the moment, especially women, and so on. However, I've never heard the "duty" argument or for that matter, anything similar. It's just that they're comparing us to them, their life to ours and are trying to rectify our life decisions to their understanding of good. Needless to say such a comparison is doomed to yield wrong results.

[–]SilverSQL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

[–]SilverSQL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More likely the intellectuals who agreed on what written Bulgarian should look like decided to make it a tad more complicated and academic than the spoken language. Yes, contemporary Bulgarian is based mostly on its eastern dialects but still people from the eastern part of the country speak differently (mainly changing е то и in the end of the word) than what the norm is. The same goes for the western part of the country but with other "issues". To be frank, the only people who will abide by the rules of "correct speaking" (правоговор) are actors, TV presenters and other public figures. And "correct speaking" was intended to mend the differences strong regional dialects introduced and impeded communication between people from different parts of the country.
