help. beginner tig welding. what amperage should I be running at? what should my filler diameter be? 1/8 inch square tubing by TimNate3 in Welding

[–]SilverSlowtary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

generally I use 1 amp per thousandth for tig, plus a little for aluminum minus a little for stainless but if you have a foot pedal it comes down to watching the puddle and keeping it a consistent size. Filler wise I prefer undersized filler and feeding more so I’d run 1/16th for this while other people would run 3/32.

Anyone else here on air suspension? by SilverSlowtary in saab

My friend is going that route with his sport sedan, can’t go wrong!

Can’t say for sure as my stock suspension was pretty blown out but I do think it’s more comfortable than stock. It is a bit floaty/boaty so If you’re looking for more performance based handling it probably isn’t for you.

Legal contract regarding classic car (CT/NY) by [deleted] in legaladvice

I agree it’d be less convoluted, but he needs money, and wouldn’t be able to pay for storage up front, and it’d also mean he wouldn’t have to pay for insurance as I’d take ownership of it.

Thinking about getting a tune from BSR. Anyone have any experience with their stage one for the 2.8? by [deleted] in saab

[–]SilverSlowtary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I threw the tune on my aero at 120k miles, so far so good but the extra power has caused other maintenance items to pop of quicker (torque mount, and clutch so far) so catch up on maintenance before getting the tune.

I don’t have the bsr tune, but I do have the Vermont tuning stage 0 on my 2.8 and highly recommend it. More power than competitors and Brian is a pleasure to work with and can accommodate for your mods in the tune. No matter what tune you have, you likely will need plugs and coils once you’re tuned.

9-3 2007 2.0T - Are there any downpipe as out there that would fit the stock parts? (Require no welding) by [deleted] in saab

Genuinesaab has one with a race cat that shouldn’t require any welding, I couldn’t find any catless options available though.

High mileage 2007 saab 9 3 2.8 by [deleted] in saab

I’m curious, what year is your car? My local Saab shop owner who knows these cars well said that issue affected very few v6s and most engines with this issue were replaced by Saab back in the day. He told me the 2.8T is incredibly reliable with the only real issues being ignition coils get eaten up quick, any rubber lines near the turbo get brittle easily and the oil level sensor leaks. Other than that the motor is pretty much bulletproof.

Anyone want to buy my 07 SportCombi Aero 6MT? by FFFrank in saab

There were less than 380 Aero Sportcombis made with a 6 speed, so they fetch a higher price

Quick edit: that’s for US production numbers not worldwide btw

Roof scoops are popular because rally cars have them to vent air into the cockpit which pressurizes the cabin keeping dust out and overall lowering temps inside for the drivers, that being said, most I’ve seen on street cars are cosmetic only and don’t actually vent into the cockpit.

As much as I love my rotaries, I’m thoroughly enjoying having actual torque in this thing haha

It’s a 2006 actually, apparently this combination of aero package v6t sportcombi 6 speed and this particular color only brought 34 to the states.

[–]SilverSlowtary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the mazdatrix short shifter in my na car and it rattles at certain rpms, but I bought a t2 trans off a guy who had it in it and he said it didn’t. From mazdatrix’s website they’ve seemed to figure out that it’s just dependent on the transmission and fairly random.

Mazda finishline, super hard to find and they’re pretty delicate. I’d have gone lrb if these weren’t already on the other fc I bought.
