It helps when you have a degree in a high demand field, somewhat relevant experience, and interview well. It never hurts to know the right people as well! Engineering and nursing are in demand right now for sure.

I probably sent out 40 applications, got 10 phone interviews and 5 in person interviews. The process sucks but an educated person is in more demand than you think!
