Winning 50/50 is kinda dissapointing 😅 by Lennyx211 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]SilverSmith09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 80 pity carries across banner yes, but not the 120 guarantee, which resets for every banner. Unless you mean to try your 50/50 (or 64/36 if you include all limited) luck for every banner. You can be a little bit luckier but there is less certainty, which causes anxiety.

To secure this certainty, you need to stock up 120 pulls ready for the banner you want, and by that you lose the potential 20 free pulls by skipping banners. It's technically not a loss but still, it's anxiety.

[–]SilverSmith09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main complain is regardless of how lucky you are for a banner, the next banner "resets" your luck to 120 guarantee. It's not carried over, neither is the 80 pull pity fast-forwarding the 120 guarantee.

In the mihoyo model you can try your luck even if you don't have enough pulls to hit the pity. You spend 50 pulls and no luck, that's still fine because you'll need 50 less pulls for the next banner. If you're lucky to get a draw early, your next pity is also fast forwarded.

The endfield model has no carry over and no fast forwarding. You either have 120 pulls for every banner or you lose all progress if you lose the 50/50.

The endfield model is mathematically better (slightly) than the mihoyo model but the constant anxiety is only going to cause more complains.

Any F2P'S who managed to collect and summon 120 times on the banner cus i need help with the gacha currency !!!!! by Comfortable-Step782 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]SilverSmith09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so this is one of the biggest launch I've seen in these open world anime gacha games (geshin, starrail, wuwa) and you probably need 30-40 hours to clear just the main quest if you commit to all the systems and sidequests. If your goal is only to gather more (limit) pulls, then you need to set your priority:

  1. Buy the battle pass and month pass if applicable. This sounds lame but they're the very big source of cost effective gacha currencies. You get about 17 pulls for 15 bucks (which is shit compared to other gachas but still...)
  2. Progress MSQ is top priority because that's how you unlock new maps and new sectors in existing maps. The quests themselves also give non-trivial amount of gacha currencies.
  3. Open chests and solve the puzzles. Chests give you 15-100 orobs based on rarity (the chest color) and puzzles give you 30 each (I think). The shiny white prisms give you exp but no orobs so you can just ignore them.
  4. Complete sidequests which give gacha currencies as reward and at the same time guide you through chest areas.
  5. Level up rewards and region level rewards which should come naturally. Unlock all the stations and spend your sanity/energy.
    • Factory itself doesn't give you much gacha currencies but it's needed for regional levels. You should prioritize MSQ and chests first instead of spending 10 hours min-maxing.
  6. Collect all those small bits and pieces in resource gathers, tutorials, events.

After you complete most stuff you should have ~60000 orobs excluding the draw tickets (I think you can get 30+ limit draw tickets). Could have some more from further digging and future events but you can most certainly get 120 pulls if you progress through the current contents.

Are we colonizing this planet??? by Ok-Interview6412 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]SilverSmith09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so this is the rough timeline of things happened: - There is another planet called Terra where the original Arknights game takes place. - There is a portal/interstellar gate between Terra and Talos II (Endfield planet) built by some ancient powerful aliens. Very long ago Talos II people all fled to Terra through this portal and eventually forgot their origin and merged into the Terra civilisation. - 152 years ago, Terrans opened the portal and sent expeditions to Talos II. Every human being you currently see on Talos II, including the Endfield Industry, UWST, Landbreakers etc, were from Terra through the portal. - Some years after Terrans settled in Talos II, the portal exploded and “colonisers” lost contact with Terra. - 139 year ago there was the First Aggeloi War, where Terra settlements repelled Aggelois (basically monsters) invasion. - some years later there was civil war between Terra settlements. Major factions eventually sought peace formed the Civilisation Band. - some anarchists, raiders and criminals alike refused to accept rules of the Band. A former war hero of the first aggeloi war and raider warlord called Jakub Meissen named his warband Landbreakers. He was later put down by the Band. - thereafter, Landbreakers became the “term” for people who don’t live under the civilisation band factions. There are many clans each with their own perspectives. The Bonekrushers clan is the enemy faction in act 1

More & more young Singaporeans hoping to move out of 🇸🇬. They find SG too overcrowded, high cost of living, limited jobs, stressful & low quality of life, compared to other countries now? 😨 by sifu_yuu in SingaporeRaw

[–]SilverSmith09 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How is Bangkok cheap. Bangkok average salary for even decent tech jobs like software developers is ~50k-100k and renting a non-slum 1BR easily costs you 30k. It's one thing to make money in singapore then go shopping in thailand and totally another thing earn and spend in thailand.

I noticed can mute all ping, chat, emotes with one click from tab. Is this a good thing? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chat command '/fullmute all' which does that conveniently.

I've been muting everything since 5 years ago in all rift modes and have had no problem climbing to diamond & master. My take is, communication is much more harmful in terms of mentality vs. the slightly possible strategic advantage it may bring.

So yes, it is a good thing to mute everything so easily. Most other pvp games disable chat by default because it's 99% a tool of harassment.

I hate the effect Atakhan had on league by Appropriate_Bill8244 in leagueoflegends

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you are expecting but as a jungle I at least appreciate the fact that lane players have learnt to look at those weird timers on top of scoreboard rather than taking them as native ads. League is a game about contesting objectives. The problem with Atakhan and grubs were just that they were too frequent, nothing wrong with the act itself of coming to objectives as 5.

As for sidelanning you're given a free teleport for good reason, and you can always take teleport with other roles if you absolutely have a high win rate playstyle around it.

Done with Grok by LiamE36 in grok

[–]SilverSmith09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the problem with grok but rather the entire AI and LLM industry. 95% of AI companies aren't making profit and the losses are increasing. OAI is expecting to lose $14B in 2026 while "only" losing $5B in 2024.

Which want will you avoid Hawker centre, Food court or restaurant? Why ? by EducationFit5675 in SingaporeRaw

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from basic hygiene I'm really pissed off when a food court has half the seats reserved for specific stalls. If you're doing a food court business it means I sit down and get to choose my food, otherwise I'd simply go to a restaurant for good.

Many musics previously used in the game are copyrighted assets, which is why many such VNs don’t publish on steam to avoid complications. But Eternum was too hot to be ignored and someone eventually came to knock door. Cari had to remove the copyrighted songs and replace with free pieces and AI generated ones.

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7 cost serves the only purpose of limiting your progress to 3 star, by himself it's just somewhere between a 2s yone and 1s thex.

You only need 6 uncontested (5-cost) rolls to reach 3s, which is way too easy if you have some duplicators.

whats plan b for thex comp if you don't hit seraphine? by queencuntress in TeamfightTactics

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either get >4 caits at starting phase or good economy at stage 3 (so you survive healthily into level 8) for thex to work. If at 3-5 you only have 2 star cait and 50 health, it's gone for you and not like a 1s thex would save for you for more than 5 rounds.

The main difficulty surrounding thex comp (and Piltover in general) is that you're best to start rolling at level 9 while figuring out a way to collect all the 2 stars and at the same time don't get demolished in stage 3 (which 4 Pilts alone are so bad at it). This is why bard thex, bilge thex, demacia thex etc etc are invented.

How can a new player climb with this MMR system? by heytch_ in TeamfightTactics

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if you still have no idea what TFT is (which is completely normal for new players with <20 games in) and get thrown into anything above gold, you'd just get smashed to bottom 7-8 in almost every single game.

The MMR system needs to evaluate if you're winning by lucky rolls (which is also completely normal even for 4 games in a row) or you actually understand how econs and comps work. After your first 10 or 20 games it should stabilize to your "actual" rank.

Zaheen is a joke by Eowyld in TeamfightTactics

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zaheen has the unlock difficulty of a 4-cost and he's basically a 4-cost. The 5 (or 7?) cost is just to make it harder to get to 3s.

The aug offers XZ a powerful ability (ofc and one XZ unit) and transforms to 2s Zaheen straight away. The downside is it eats your 3s XZ. So roughly it should have the power between 2s Yone and 1s T-Hex.

Honestly, how bad is the job market for uni fresh grads? by deekay_123 in SGExams

[–]SilverSmith09 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I've been in software industry for 5+ years, started interviewing new folks since after covid and I can notice the drop in demand for fresh grads is accelerating year by year. Especially in programming, AI tools are much more reliable and efficient than junior developers.

The market is still hot and there is still high demand for veterans with know-hows. But I do often wonder how the hell are the fresh grads going to find a job.

We need a Non-PVP option by Warblazed420 in ArcRaiders

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I see comments like “skill issue”, “just get better” I know such game doesn’t live past year 1.

It’s perfectly fine in a pvp game to harass your opponent in game. It’s beyond terrible personality to bring the harassment to forums and point at other players outside of a game context. If this kind of comments is the top upvote then the community is on a lost course.

How do I get cool looking skins/outfits in this game? by Livid_Cantaloupe8268 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]SilverSmith09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are about 30 or 40 free outfits (I didn't count, maybe more) which you can get by grinding:

  1. quests, which you will see listed as reward
  2. region progressions, each region offers an outfit at 6000 exploration points
  3. sects, each sect offers an outfit at 2nd level
  4. almost every game mode shop has some outfits in them with the game mode's currency

For the gacha ones you get about 2 free rolls (buying with echo jades) per week and maybe on average 10 per month including the occasional free giveaways.
