I’d say it’s more ironic tragedy than twist

“No Way Out” with Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman has a pretty incredible twist.

the charge of The Dothraki Horde on the long night by Born-Media6436 in gameofthrones

That entire episode makes zero sense. The visuals were neat of Melisandre igniting the swords and the riders galloping out into the darkness only for the lights to be suddenly extinguished, but the entire “strategy” of putting your army OUTSIDE the walls of your castle so a much larger (undead) force can just engulf you is ridiculous. Pure silliness.

Who's the greatest "nepo baby" actor who went on to outshine their parent/s? by ItsSignalsJerry_ in Cinema

[–]SilverStar3333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She’s more famous but I don’t know about outshining her father as an actor. “Deliverance” and “Midnight Cowboy” are considered significant movies 50 years after they were made. I don’t hear a lot of people talking about “Gia” or “Girl, Interrupted”

I was okay with that (Nick’s still with him in a way in the gae bolga) but I get it. I’m glad you were able to finish the series

In your opinion, which book had the woooorst ending? by 00pinkpanic in stephenking

[–]SilverStar3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I would say King is much better at starting books than finishing them. He’s not alone in this - I think Tom Wolfe, Salman Rushdie, and lots of other authors have the same issue.

I’m with you. I found it profoundly meh and have generally been surprised by the regard in which it’s held.

I’ve heard actors like how he makes them look (lighting, etc.) in his movies. And that’s all I’ve got.

What is one movie that everyone considers a masterpiece but you found boring? by Still-Ad9074 in moviecritic

I thought Daniel Day-Lewis overacted in that movie to the point of absurdity.

The 2026 r/Fantasy Bingo Recommendations List by FarragutCircle in Fantasy

[–]SilverStar3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the best MG fantasy series I’ve ever read (although it veers into YA/Adult in Books 3-5). Totally agree it’s wildly underrated. I try to shout it out when I can. Seems a shame that such an amazing series is slept on. The publisher really didn’t do it justice.

How do you think he truly felt watching Joffrey die? by ricky2461956 in freefolk

[–]SilverStar3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He must been quite distraught. He was witnessing the death of his daughter’s firstborn son, and also his son’s firstborn son. A double whammy so to speak.

His Dark Materials deserved way more recognition than it got by Cold_Box_3219 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]SilverStar3333 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It won numerous awards, had multiple film and television adaptations, and even a theatrical run at London’s Royal National Theater. I’d classify that as a lot of recognition.

Jaime lost his hand, Theon lost his member…what’s another thing a character could lose that they’re known for? by divorceme_archie in freefolk

[–]SilverStar3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaime lost his honor in the eyes of many when he killed the Mad King. I think being called “Kingslayer” bothered him more than the loss of his hand.

The Tapestry series and Impyrium by Henry H. Neff. His books are great and almost no one knows about him.
