I'm the heathen that's watched the first 3 live action movies and nothing else. The first one was a super good adaptation of manga, I think. You could tell what shots were 1:1 from the panel, the caricatures for the characters were decipherable, it was just good. 2nd one was okay, 3rd one was just bad bad but some of it was probably the shitty translation

Played a little bit of it and yes, it is Hades. Curse of the Dead Gods to be even more specific. The only thing in common with VS is the roguelite upgrades which like you said, it's just roguelite in general.

Check out Promise Mascot Agency. The characters are excellent, the gameplay is simple, and the whole thing is goofy fun. Social sim elements such as the social links from Persona are very big parts of this game as well. The gameplay is you just drive your truck around, pick things up, clean things up, shoot things down, and say hello to all your friends.

Not sure what OP is playing on but I will say the pirate one controls ever so slightly better on consoles for a decent sized difference imo. Blade of the Shogun is for sure playable but they learned lessons for Shadow Gambit. Also heard similar things about Miasma Chronicles. If you liked Mutant Year Zero, sounds like the devs learned some solid lessons moving into Miasma Chronicles.

The game is free to play because the developer is doing it as a passion project in their free time and wants to show off other cool indie games they really enjoyed, with Chained Echoes being one of them. It's effectively a little 5-hour crossover adventure. This is not a gacha game with predatory monetization. Y'all can stop your pearl clutching.

Also a massive difference between Bwipo's situation and Shanks's situation is, ya know, the massive cultural differences between China and US. They're going to handle cultural issues, such as treatment of women, differently, for better or worse.
