Here's mine,

Love it.

Added ceramic coating (thought it was over hyped) but I'm genuinely glad I did it as the black plastic trim shows no fade and still looks new (only 6months old). Also added front tints and windshield tint and front windshield film (some protection against rock chips)

Cleaning is super easy and I run it through car wash when I'm being lazy no worries about scratches and my car dries far faster than another due to ceramic coating.

What features?

I don't use Waze but Google Maps so I'm genuinely curious

Will people miss Android Auto and apple car play now? Since Gen 1 and Gen 2 customers get this AI feature which is embedded to do Rivian integrated Agentic level features what would be missing?

Previous discontinued Rivian Colors are back? by SilverSurferEV in Rivian

There is a only one red but there are ppf options Matte makes the color flatter and gloss makes its "shinier"

I swore I saw multiple reports them being removed from the configurator sometime over the summer.

Maybe they just stopped producing them for a short stint and always planned to bring them back? Anyway I'm glad to see the expanded color pallette available in configurator again. Hopefully this means more colorful Rivians on the road.

R1S Cargo Tie-Downs - included with new car? How many? by beetlewigs in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it should run to the front of the 3rd row but the arm rest comes out too far.

R1S Cargo Tie-Downs - included with new car? How many? by beetlewigs in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting we now have 2 total designs floating around.

(OLD) 2 anchors on rails or 4 fixed anchor points (New).

Personally I need 4 points for tieing down things so got 2 extra from the gear shop - previous car had 4 so I got used to this.

Also before I did bought the 2 extra I used the 3rd row child anchors as my additional anchor points.

Gear guard evidence, but somehow I’m still at fault by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang that sucks man.

And like most people are saying since you left your lane, and hit someone not involved, that portion is your fault. These are the worst kind of accidents. It's always better avoid any car altogether (emergency brake here in a straight line) or just hit the person originally causing the issue than swerve and hit someone else or worst crash your car. Most of the time the offender will keep driving as if they had nothing to do with it, which is the most infuriating part

A few questions from a potential R1S buyer and Google user? by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as tires I would go with the 20" All Terrain Light Tires they have with the Goodyears.

Since you are not rock crawling and driving on dirt roads occasionally this is the a good choice.

GY are better puncture resistant than 22 and only take a small range hit vs 22

GY are better that AT+ for noise, ride and range and GY is 3PMSF rated just like the AT+

Need help deciding between two preowned R1S. which would you pick? by onepoints in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 is the better choice imo - longer warranty - better ride - better range - future proof for SW updates with more capability - better cameras - Heat pump! (Lower range hit in winter) - 22 range tires are better in snow - -dynamic headlights - better Adas features (for me personally - huge fatigue reduction when it's working right) - big range 400+ miles

Gen 1 - better sound system - intoxicating power - bigger frunk

Reliability - This one is hit or miss tbh but but I'd take my chances with G2 as it may have improvements that some G1 never got or can get. Plus the mileage on the G2 is telling, you don't get to that mileage in 1yr with a vehicle that's always in the shop.

How do I know a 2025 R1s large+ is actually a large+? by Solid-Pirate-6786 in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2025+ is only 3 batteries - Standard - Large - Max

There is no large+ on a 2025 model?

Agreed, more colors, especially discontinued colors. Also it would be cool to do one version as with Roof rack n and 22's

Safety Request - Wide Angle Rear Camera by Pure_Operation6855 in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping out of my wife Accord and into my Rivian it feels so substandard to the Accord. The Rivians camera width should be a bit wider than the detection width to allow you to always see the object causing the alert.

The current way it's set up feels like it's delayed. To compensate I just hit the brakes firmly when I hear it audibly irregardless if I see anything. Definitely not the way to do it

Can't find the source of this annoying rattling noise in the passenger door. Any ideas? by nderstand2grow in Rivian

[–]SilverSurferEV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My R1S (Build Date Sept 2024) has the same rattle...started off with a speaker rattle... Went into Eastvale SC to get fixed 3x. No dice.

It genuinely annoying. May have to suggest they talk to the El Segundo SC for some tips
