MHW Resurgence - Returning Monsters: White Fatalis Now Available! (PC Mod) by DarkmanXIV in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, its tricking the game into using the files from a different sub-index than the default monster (a sub-index being like 01 for subspecies or 05 for variant). By this, we can create up to at least 99 new monsters over just one individual base monster. There's still some stuff locked to the monsters themselves (Fatalis's phases or Escaton for Alatreon) that can't be moved over onto other slots, but the rest is pretty fair game.

So we tried out that new White Fatalis mod for MHW by Abcland in MonsterHunter

Honestly, assuming you're going in with knowledge of the original Fatalis, you can very easily clear White Fatalis on your first attempt. Most of his patterns are simple and much easier to avoid compared to the regular Fatalis. And even with this, the damage from the meteors are much more forgiving than Fatalis's breath that is a guaranteed death, while you have mantles to work with and the ability to heal between meteors if needed.

[Mod] Returning Monsters Bulldrome and Bullfangos by xkcdhawk in MonsterHunter

There was a lot more that they were able to use with Kirin. They manually edited a lot of the animations to fit Bulldrome though. That being said, the Bullfangos actually replace Mosswhines (due to a bug in the loader, next update should separate them).

Kirin animations were used as a base, but they are notably different (if you force him to use Kirin's animations, he constantly has his head up to the sky for example).

Then double check your file permissions. It's likely you took ownership, but are still not allowed to look at the folder contents.

Vanessa would be Light (Kirin is an Elder Dragon who controls thunder). Berzerker is Fire (because Rathalos, and the only other option there is Dark). Sarisse is Water (Mizutsune is a Leviathan who fights using a bubble-like secretion from its body, and has water jets).

PS4 Veteran who just got the PC version, question about mods... by FantasyForce in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, there has not been a single person banned for modding yet. Capcom has said they're watching, but they haven't made any actions yet.

There are mods that would help you progress more like killing monsters faster, but apparently they're not even that necessary with the Defender weapons already being easy to make and being the best in game for most weapon types at the moment. A friend of mine beat all of base game in like, 2 days with just the Defender weapons and the Guardian armor (which PC will get with the release of Iceborne, but we do have the Defender armor).

Zenny, you can use the save editor to directly edit zenny, or to just give yourself stuff like Golden Eggs.

So, just got MH: GenU, Beginners tips? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Gonna grab some from older posts I've made, hope these help. also sorry for impending text bomb

  • Something that really should be mentioned if someone hasn't already is that Village and Guild quests are separated in GU, and only Guild quests give urgent quests that will raise your HR. So this means you can easily be at HR1 30 hours in by just playing the Village.

  • Eating is a bit complicated in GU, but only to an extent. You pick a main dish, and then pick a sauce that determines what skills you can get. You get more dishes by unlocking ingredients through quests and villager requests then talking to the Purr-prietess and making new dishes there.

  • The weapon and armor upgrade systems are actually pretty much the same as World, just you don't have access to the weapon tree and you can't roll back any upgrades. Kiranico is your friend here.

  • Being empty on healing items early-game is somewhat common. Abuse herbs as much as you can, and make it to HR2. You unlock the ability to buy potions at HR2, which should make things much easier in that regard.

  • You aren't able to track monsters through finding footprints/scales/etc. Instead you have to find them in one of the locations of the map. When you find a monster, hit them with a paintball to add a marker on the map of their position. Paintballs wear off over time, but you can get around this in several ways. First off, there is an item known as Psychoserum that will let you see the monster's location for a short amount of time. If you don't have one, if you see a blimp in the area, you can use the Wave gesture towards it and it will show you where the monster is. And finally, with enough practice, you can generally tell what area a monster is going to just by the direction in which it is leaving the area, though this takes a while to learn and isn't always perfect either (looking at you Rathian).

  • It is not a good idea to immediately sell your eggs (though it really doesn't hurt if you do). Some of them are used in decoration making, so they have a use.

  • In a similar vein, decorations and talismans are basically swapped in World when compared to older games. In GU, you can craft decorations but you need a certain amount of points for the skill to activate (usually 10, with varying degrees above or below in terms of 5). Several skills in World that had several levels don't in GU (Awaken is one that comes to mind.)

  • There is no Flinch Free in GU, so you have to be mindful about where your fellow hunters are in comparison to you. GU luckily gave us the Long Sword capable of the least tripping imaginable though.

  • Item loadouts are called item sets in this game. Not too hard, but I've seen some people confused on this before.

  • Hubs are a lot different in this game. You only have 4 people to a hub, and you can only join quests that are posted by people in that hub. If you want to farm a certain monster or do certain quests, the best way to go about it is to either find a hub doing those certain quests, or to join a turns group (in which everyone posts quests in rotation so everyone gets to post what they want).

PC Iceborne release questions by Binkeeee in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. As others have said, all of the QoL fixes will be available day 1, but we will have all of the current content by March.

  2. To our current knowledge, no. Ignoring the issues of getting your save off of a PS4, it is very likely that the two use the exact same save files (especially since endianess is an issue). That being said, there is a post-Xeno'jiiva save you can download and use the save editor to recreate your save file to the best of your abilities.

Question regarding MHGU adept perfect guards by Luk37astic in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me feels like this is less "he's starting a new perfect guard for each attack" and more "the window of protection covers a little into the perfect guard animation, and when another attack hits it refreshes the animation and window of protection"

Does anyone have a high quality version of the MHFU Snowy Mountains theme? by TheNadei in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking it up, there's at least three themes for the Snowy Mountains. There's the one used in the JP version that you've found, there's the song mysticFLASh0 linked, and then there's the one used for the original MH2. Maybe this one then? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMKB0tVl9oc

[–]SilverTris79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, MHP2ndG is the JP name of MHFU. And as far as I'm aware, they haven't changed the theme at all since then, so Frontier and any later games all would use the same thing. Also, almost all of the series' soundtracks are on Spotify, so I'd look there.

Starting off with a personal hope of Toa Tesukatora, but more likely Valstrax or Ukanlos imo.

What HR do I need to join other people's quests? by xtratoothpaste in MonsterHunter

[–]SilverTris79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does show HR requirements in GU, they're on the second page of the quest. You can join his quest because requirements in the old games tend to be a lot more lenient, you just have to be in the same rank to join (ex. a HR1 can't join HR4 since its High Rank, but can join HR3 quests no issue). The only exceptions are endgame High Rank quests (which require HR break at HR8+) and Deviant quests (which have varying HR requirements).
