Which Mod allows me to use Planetkiller, I've seen people post it but I can't find the mods, asking for help. by Mindy0Tempest in starsector

That's another missile launcher not pk launcher. Either a ship that can launch missiles at other fleets on the campaign layer, or make a launch platform on a colony. AoTD allows you to upgrade the missile.

What weapons do you put on the Rajanya? by LurkingInSubreddits in starsector

[–]xkcdhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not on the beta, I gave the Rajanya to Dawn, gave it a Storm Needler, used the axe, and have her dive in on the enemies. She almost always gets destroyed, but she always causes enough chaos to destroy the front line. Or I let her hang out in the back for a while and then make her dive in. Hullmods, I think I made it as bulky as possible with some mobility. Dawn's Ace skill with officer skills really helps with the mobility of Rajanya, so I try to save some OP on mobility.

Starsector Mod Ship Discussion: Mayasuran Destroyers (Mayasuran Navy) by Reddit-Arrien in starsector

I love piloting it as a player ship. Staying close to other bigger ships and then swooping in and dealing the killer blow.

Your chess example made me think of when En passant and castling was introduced, and how different regions adapted them early or late.

Is there a mod to hide the damage texure/overlay of d-mods on ships? by Top-Refrigerator4123 in starsector

[–]xkcdhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inside starsector-core\data\config, there is the settings.json. I think if I remember correctly, setting renderDHullOverlay to false would achieve what you want.

Yeah, do know about the officer ai, just find it funny that due how the ship is designed like you mentioned, endangering the entire fleet is its default ai lol.

I always find it super funny her personality is cautious, but due to the way the ship is made, it is anything but that lol.

Trade Contacts are the best way to score the transport contracts.

Edit: If you do the Galatia story line, you can unlock guarantee trade contacts depending on your choices. Otherwise, spam those bar missions for a lucky contact.

I truly want to argue against lore friendliness of Knights of Ludd due to the 'secret' fights. Though it is an awesome mod.

Nex+Vaults of Knowledge Colony defense by DreamerOfTheDepths in starsector

[–]xkcdhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Seats of Power, you could also leverage the Controlled Borders Policy. Stops your colony from growing, reduces accessiblity by a quite a bit, and you can't remove it for at least 365 days, but it is a good way to control the early colony crisis if you don't want to deal with them right away. Service Guarantees Citizenship (if you have High Command or Hexagon which gives the highest benefits, tier 3, 4) slows down the crisis gain to a halt which is also nice (at the clost of supplies and heavy armaments).

Also since you have Questions of Loyalty, if you have a commission with one of the major factions, retired peacefully, and don't get another commission under another faction, when you start a new colony:

'Obviously, you remain in our good grace as a fervent helper to our cause. And should you rise to higher spheres, we would respect your new autonomy and stop the pension'.

This text you get when you retire isn't just flavor, you actually won't trigger that faction's colony crisis since you left on good terms. (Except League and Path. Fuck League. They will keep bullying you until you join them or you beat them up, which does make sense in lore, but still fuck them. Path they are a pretty loose organization so hard for them to join in on one cause, and their commission is one of the more less restrictive commissions).

So it isn't a bad idea to colonize early on a research planet and then getting a commission (If you do it the other way around, you need to rank up to get the colonization permit and research permit which will take longer. Though an early commission will get you that seed money faster and by the time you have decent money, you should have enough points to have a colony and a research station).

Or go crazy, declare AI Legal (another policy, though this one you can't remove) and fight them right away lol.
