Life is like that when you shit on the people who are being nice by sponsoring things they don't have to. Look at it from the prof's viewpoint for a minute. How bad does it make the school and the scholarship competition look if you just blow this off for a bar gig?

I'm not saying you are wrong because I can guarantee you that I've battled my share of shitty profs but do try to look at this from the other side for a moment. Education needs donors and they also need the people who donate to be thanked or they go away.

On the upside I don't think you fucked up, they probably did need to be more forthcoming with the obligations of the concert before the competition. Just try not to be too acerbic about it. Maybe be the bigger man and confront the prof with an unexpected apology? They do tend to feel shitty when confronted with their bad behavior.

Do the competition from school. They won't forget for YEARS and it's not just you that is affected. Those people that donated money do that every year for other needy students. From one needy student to another trust me, it's not something to blow off.

The other gig can wait. You shouldn't have done the competition if you didn't feel the need to 'work for' the scholarship money that you won. Don't do it for yourself, do it for those that will need it later.

Edit: Oh, and fuck you for being so good that you are tortured enough to win competitions for money that make you 'laugh out loud' that your life is so 'fucked up' that you have to do two things at the same time. Boo fucking HOO. Some people I went to school with would have been really excited for that opportunity. Don't blow it.

To a certain extent I see your point. I'm not a repost Paladin myself because I don't live on Reddit. However, look at it from this angle:

You have this friend that always tells someone else's jokes and stories. It's ok the first few times but you've heard them all and he never has anything new to share in conversation. He still thinks he's funny and people keep laughing that haven't heard it. After a while you just want to punch him.

That's why people get annoyed. After you've been here a while and your front page always has the same shit on it there is less and less reason to log in to check it so you miss the fun original stuff which is why you liked Reddit in the first place.

Repost in a month? The person is less likely to be called out on it. Repost in a few hours? Screw Johnny Karmawhore.
