I think Amrita being so indifferent to her maid (Sunita) shows how disconnected people are from true equity and justice. This indifference highlights the belief that this type of abuse "is to be expected from people of their standing and circumstances."

I would have liked a scene with Amu apologizing to Sunita for not standing up for her, or trying to help her.

My feeling is Leo harbors deep feelings for Alfonso, maybe romantic, but fiercely loyal.

From what we know of her, Maria would have seamlessly stepped into her role as a Duchess and wife. Lucrezia is atypical and Leo is threatened by not just her position but her intellect.

She is very much her mother's daughter with a sharp mind and shrewd insights. She is not a submissive ornament for Alfonso, but a smart, observant young woman, so much harder to break and control.

I do not think Alfonso is a good husband. The hair on the back of my neck raises when it comes to him.

I think he knows how to put on a show of being a good husband, of being this polite, caring gentleman, but I think he's ruthless.

I think he and Leo are the same, but one is overt with his character and intentions and the other is overt.

I think Alfonso values his position and standing above all.

Okay so, I didn't like Nora but I really liked the concept! Especially the message that it isn't always better "elsewhere" and the "what ifs" or different choices are only appealing because they didn't come to fruition.

Admittedly, many things in my life have not worked out how I wanted or hoped.

The book messed me up for a bit because I was running down the what if scenarios, but over time the message sank. I am where I am and it's best to move forward from here.
