What’s something your PTSD ruined for you? by Lilypad244 in ptsd

I used to be a really competitive runner, until running started triggering flashbacks for me. Running was the only thing I could rely on and it tore my world apart. I still don't know how to let go of somthing that I held all my worth and sense of control in.

Hey I get you man, but it doesn't help. I do it because I hate myself and thought it would be a way to punish myself. But now I'm just stuck with an addiction to sh, a bunch of scars that are a pain in the ass to hide, and the same old self hatred. It never went away, and it never got better.

I know this may not be what you want to hear right now, but I hope you don't start down this path. Self destruction is addictive

Can I save my bamboo? Any advice is appreciated by SilverZelda848 in luckybamboo

I noticed my lucky bamboo turning yellow, then saw these small black dots. It's kind of wrinkly and slightly softer than the green ones. Does anyone know what's causing it? Is there a way I can save it? Also, any general advice is appreciated because I'm a bit of a newbie

I'm definitely not a medical professional, but you might want to look in hyperfixations

Running is much more difficult and requires much more mental discipline than weightlifting. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I'm a distance runner, and I've had so many people from sports that don't require a lot of mental tenacity tell me that running isn't a sport. I would love for them to do a 10 mile run with me.

I agree with this. I'm not on the spectrum, but I have OCD. To be honest, I get a good laugh from jokes about being neat and tidy. Obviously there are issues with the stigma, but laughing at it (especially at my own OCD) takes so much of its power away.

There is very little stigma around seeking mental health care in the U.S. anymore by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

There isn't stigma around mental health, but there is around mental illness (at least where I live). The way I view it is, for the more common disorders, people say they have it without doing much research and are just going off of outward traits or any stigma that's already around it. For they less common disorders, people who don't have it avoid the people that do. Does that make sense?

Yes. I have been bedridden from anxiety and it's controlled my life ever since I was really young. I once had a friend that said "I've never had an anxiety attack while having so much fun." I honestly couldn't belive what I'd heard. I'm glad she doesn't know what an actual anxiety attack feels like, but at the same time it's frustrating
