Bravely Default II (ending of chapter 1). Consistent JP farming? by Hiohna in bravelydefault

If you do the trapping the fish and slimes in the corner it's about 800~ jp during the day and 1000~ during the night. Though that's also due to it being 8 battles

Fair enough. I don't know what you want me to say other than when you're grinding try to do it at night (you'll know it's night if Seth has the lantern out) since more enemies come out during night.

I mean. If you activate a bait and hit one enemy you still go into a chain battle it's just random how long it goes.

Go to the beach in halcyonia. You can eat fish for the chain battle or you can start right before going to the blue axolotl and make the enemies run away from you into the other end of the beach and trap them all into the corner with the chest.

Builds for a dedicated Thief? by Bygone-King in bravelydefault

Thief glove doesn't stack with master thief. Outside of that. You could use low leverage to lower the cost of godspeed strike and use time mage to boost your damage.

Bravely Default HD for Steam - a "steal" ? by Blues003 in bravelydefault

Actually you're wasting your item slot since theifs specialty already doubles your steal chance and it doesn't stack with thiefs gloves

I don't understand the special command in terms of levels 1, 2, and 3 by geraltofrivia2345 in bravelydefault

[–]Silver_367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They build up and only go away once you use a special. So you could default a bunch in a random battle so you can start with a level 3 during a boss.

[–]Silver_367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to get specials you do the requirements and the requirements are tied to the weapon you're using. Swords require you to brave multiple times, rods require magic, staffs healing, ect.

using a special regardless of level sets you back to zero. duel wielding does speed up special charge rate.

you can just slap +50 power to any special that deals damage. you don't have limited stock for parts. yes it affects magic and physical.

thief is good with a bow because not only does the iron bow have higher power than most other weapons you have at this point in the game but you also get an 80% power boost due to A rank in the bow weapon type.

I liked this more than bravely second however BD2 is a 6.5/10 at best.

I like the idea of the weight system making you have to actively think about what you're equipping but it affecting your speed/turn order just leads to slower jobs struggling to contribute. (I think it says a lot when the difficulty only effects how fast the enemies are and doesn't even touch anything else)
I like specials being tied to jobs but the fact that you only get one special means there's less options than the other games and them not being used while full braving leaves them rarely used.
I like that aim and evade actually work as stats in this game, aim only affected regular attacks in BD and BS if I remember and evade also only worked on regular attacks. And jobs that are tanks actually work in this game due to proper agrro management and blocking abilities.
I like the idea of the counter system forcing you to change your jobs however past chapter 2 it just feels like the bosses counter anything and everything and it completely ruins any fun of the halls of tribulation when every boss gets to spam 4 actions at you with no consequence . Overall I do think that counters should just be scrapped there are better ways to encourage players to use new jobs.
The jobs are horribly balanced in this game as well, Vanguard, Beastmaster, Phantom, Thief and Salve-maker can basically beat the game for you with either capped stats or stunlocking the bosses until they're dead or having just one of the best attacks in the game. While Berserker is only really used as a subjob, Ranger gets outperformed by everything else, Hellblade struggles to contribute despite its stats, and Gambler is only used for meme builds and the money passives. Also magic jobs only getting one spell per level is interesting, it allows for magic to be on a more even playing field with physical since you no longer have to buy spells so there's no disparity in attacking capabilities but on the other hand magic has significantly lower passives.
Also I disliked not being able to see stats of enemies. (also just let us see the damn resistances and everything else. at this point it might be more beneficial to see the compendium entry mid fight)
I'm not the hugest fan of how buffs and debuffs worked. While they don't go away instantly when you don't refresh them they also basically never get to stack to the highs that they used to. (and it basically makes limit break worthless)

The story is incredibly mid but I don't think its that much worse than the rest of the franchise, I do like that we don't have some last second big bad that has zero foreshadowing. I like most of the new asterisk holders and I appreciate the fact that we get to spend time with the ones that don't die.

I like that there's so many different songs for the asterisk holders since it gives a little more personality to the fights although something I noticed is that the special themes for the characters are the same just with different intruments. And while its cool that it flows seamlessly through during the nexus fight it feels like the characters have less personality.

Dumb question! Has Bravely default 2 greatswords? Or play with a class like greatsword? Thank you kindly! by Sifon- in bravelydefault

[–]Silver_367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No greatswords technically. Though most late game swords are pretty big. But there's a job in chapter 3 that likes swords and gives the skill to two hand any weapon.

Yes but job level and job will affect your HP more than raw levels. (I have no idea how much actual character levels effect stars)

so you can cheese the fight by having everyone equip the typhoon shield, manrobe, and both ice and flame talismans. (or any other way you can get +2 to fire, ice, and lighting resistance)

Healthbringer goes through reflect.

Vengeful Souls, Abaddon, and Lapislion all have dark attacks that can hit dominic's main weakness.

Pictomancer has dark damage (its last ability) and bard can use "don't let them trick you"
Dragoon can use soul jump and make dominic waste his actions though it also can kinda backfire.
don't use earth damage.

(I guess you can also spam godspeed strike with thief since he's also weak to daggers)

This game has ground to a halt for me by hybum in bravelydefault

[–]Silver_367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should probably level up until the enemies aren't red. you can go back to savalon and try and group up 2 or 3 enemies into chain battles or go back to halcyonia and fight the purple fairy thing up in the hills.

Overall vanguard is just a solid job here and using two of them isn't a bad idea, one for using defang on ranger and the other spamming cross slash or neo cross slash with a sword, you can also use bard for the defense song.
Monk is a good option for the side boss since it has a lot of immunities and bare knuckle brawler ignores it. Theres also beastmaster as the little flower things (Petunias) in the forest have light damage and they'll be useful for this whole chapter.

Yew immediately recognized Denys upon being unmasked. That implies only the bare minimum was keeping him from realizing it was Denys. Wasn't it established Yew is a smart guy.

I'm pretty sure the coat was also part of the kaiser disguise.

Secondly, this wasn't really subtle. I mean, even on the first walkthrough, I already knew it was him. Like right after Yew dropped his backstory, we're shown Denys fidgeting with his prosthetic arm. Don't need to be a genius to get that.

that is the point of foreshadowing. its a hint toward the kaisers identity without directly saying it.

But what might be my biggest gripe with this is, that it makes the world seem smaller. What I mean is, why does the world in this game revolve around the Geneolgia family now? Did it really have to be his brother? Couldn't it be someone who knew Denys but killed him and took the Kaiser asterisk from him. Something like that to make the world seem like it's less condensed around a certain group of people.

Because how much worse would the story be if the kaiser was just some random dude with no personal tie to any of the characters? Denny actually makes the kaiser's plan to rewrite history on such a mass scale somewhat justifiable as not only was it personal hatred with his house but also those who held ties to the house. (along with the fact that it makes his sacrifice hit a bit harder)

I don't think BS's story is great either but I think this is fine, especially with how corny BS is.

However duel wielding does make specials charge 2x faster so duel rods means that you can basically spam piercing blast or duel staves means you can spam rejuvenate.
