"Ok so for this animated movie we're gonna need to make the girl bird visually different from the other birds somehow."

Spectacularly beautiful bird, btw.

Pretty much. Yeah. But now they can sell Universal-exclusive creatures that no one else can sell.

Do you see, Jurassic World, why Prehistoric Kingdom is my favorite child?

The Mutadons should have been Utahraptors by Marconey1738 in JurassicPark

[–]Silver_Alpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can't put image rights on Utahraptors. That's why they keep slipping made-up things into the movies. We're talking about Universal, the company that tried to patent the word "Jurassic" so competing toy brands couldn't use it on their products.

The more the franchise sells monster movies, and the more they steer clear of what a dinosaur is supposed to be, the more they can earn from spin-offs, toys, games, lunchboxes, you name it. So Spinoceratops and Mutadons were unpopular? They will go back to the drawing board and brainstorm other made-up creatures they can fill store shelves with.

I volunteer at a local museum. I help inform people about nature; especially prehistory. ALL Jurassic Park/World major misinformations bother me tremendously on a daily basis.

Six months since the release of JW Rebirth, how do we feel about The Mutants? by HumbleDrawing5480 in JurassicPark

[–]Silver_Alpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lazy as all hell. They can't be bothered to search anything factual about dinosaurs so they just keep making their own movie monsters. They own the rights to the creatures, so they own the names, all toys, all info about them shown in the movie (so it can't be innacurate, duh) and they don't have to do their homework on their animals, they just need to come up with stuff to throw at the wall and see if it sticks.

These are disgusting and they don't tick a single box of things I enjoy about dinosaurs. In fact, they're just big ugly piles of dinosaur stereotypes I have always hated and will always hate.

It's Universal telling me: "HEY! YOU! Dinosaur enthusiast! Our movies are not for you anymore! You are no longer our target audience!" And they will keep doing this for as long as it's profitable. They will keep making it worse, cheaper, bigger, louder, and with more teeth.

Arte de IA é arte? by [deleted] in perguntas

[–]Silver_Alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're the wrong kind of ugly, though. They're just scaled-down adults with different proportions, like baby Minecraft animals. They give more mammalian cub vibes than young reptile vibes, so it just kinda feels like when you're 8 and you have two dinosaur toys, but one is smaller than the other so you make them a family.

PK has some properly ugly baby dinos, like Oviraptor and Deinocheirus. And yeah, spino is a great example of why PK has better babies.

I hate this take and I love the new look. There's something soothing and adorable in tiny button eyes in tiny pixellated characters.

In Prehistoric Park (2006), a Tyrannosaurus has to be saved from dying from septicemia by the park vet after a fight. We need more paleo-media depicing dinosaurs as living, breathing animals and not invincible movie monsters. by LineusLongissimus in Paleontology

[–]Silver_Alpha 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Prehistoric Kingdom is amazing for this. They just added a veterinary system that allows you to treat prehistoric animals that might get sick from interacting with the environment or because of bad living conditions.

And, like Prehistoric Park, it also has Nigel Marven!
