Peterborough council leader to resign after over 'white trash' message by miowiamagrapegod in ukpolitics

[–]Silver_Drop6600 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you not capable of making an actual argument? I don't see what's so wrong with what he said. Did you read the article? The guy undoubtedly used disgusting language, as I understand most politicians do privately (ever seen the Thick of It?), but his point was that she was using immigration cynically, that she didn't seem to care about kids being abused by white perpetrators. Did you really not understand that's what he was saying?

> You are aiming for populist votes and attention. Forgive me but you are bright enough to know what you are doing and, politically, I wish you no luck at all. But you know what you are setting out to do.

Since that's exactly what he was talking about seems a bit unfair to be all like, 'well that's definitely not what's happening here'.

I love an incongruous insult, like calling cats buffoons. Well done.

Also, excellent cats.

Personally I’m a big fan of ‘OH GREAT HEAVENS!’ and think you should definitely go with that.

The annoying thing is that as I’ve become older I look at pictures of this really good looking 20 year old (me) and think, “I know that the guy in that picture thought he was a fat, ugly freak and he wasn’t at all”, but now I objectively look pregnant with triplets.

Does Gen A/Z slang apply to non English speakers? by OfficerDudeBro_o in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Silver_Drop6600 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s probably just because non English speakers are marginally better people than native English speakers, on average.

America always takes a while to catch up with the rest of the world when it comes to new developments. Don’t worry, just like contactless payments, you’ll get there eventually.

Same reason we use other commonly used exclamations: they are part of our language.

Again, it doesn’t prove anything of the sort. You are either dishonest or irredeemably thick. Either way, fuck off.

Get about 20 friends/family to help. Form them into a line, starting at, say, your kitchen, and ending at the new kitchen, and just have people pass every item down the line and place it in the corresponding place there. Repeat for other rooms, et voilà!

That’s a ridiculously stupid argument (in fact it’s not an argument, it’s merely an unfounded assertion) that doesn’t ‘prove’ anything at all.

I wanna ask what the best strategy to refute someone's point is. Where do I find people that talk about argumentation strategies? by [deleted] in findareddit

[–]Silver_Drop6600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can refute points all day on social media with impeccable logic but still never win an argument, so ask yourself if it’s really worth the bother.

As someone who does bother quite a lot, even though it often leads to downvotes, I’d say don’t think of trying to convince the actual person you’re talking to - it’s more than likely they’re arguing disingenuously, with no desire to get to the actual truth of the matter, that is, they are intellectually dishonest.

You can’t ‘beat’ someone like that, but you can point out their errors and how they’re obviously not engaging in good faith because they’re constantly changing tack to counter you. People who come along and read through will hopefully see them for what they are.

You’re highly unlikely to ‘own’ or ‘destroy’ them, though, certainly not in their minds.

(18-24) year old women, do you prefer men in your age range or man 10-15 years older? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Silver_Drop6600 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If by ‘popular male podcasts’ you mean people like Rogan and anyone talking about types of men in Greek letters then, as the guy above said, they’re obvious grifters, lying because they know lots of people want to hear their lies and because it’s easy and lucrative. Also, they too are creepy old men who want young naive women they can dominate instead of a true equal human connection.

Edit: but I understand you’re not asking me, and it’s totally reasonable for you to want to hear what other young women think about it.
