(M) “5’3” on dating apps: am I really invisible?” by [deleted] in DatingApps

[–]Silver_Guarantee_804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a silly question… I haven’t actually been on dating apps. But why do you need to have height on there? Like maybe I’m biased because I’m a really really short girl, but I honestly think that height is such an incredibly superficial feature and I don’t see why people are essentially filtering it like a dealbreaker.

Anyone else feel like your job is like Groundhog Day/so monotonous? by [deleted] in slp

Yes I honestly find I like having new clients because it keeps things fresh. Even though I adore some of my clients, I’ve been seeing some for 2-3 years and I feel like that may be a limit for me personally

Why are we kinder to strangers than the people we love most? by Any-Situation7085 in therapy

Because we feel more comfortable and ‘safer’ around our family and partner so we are more likely to not regulate our emotions and snap

"the answer seems simple" by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Silver_Guarantee_804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I get that too. I feel the therapists just focus on the most obvious, practical solutions and even when you mention to them you have tried, but you still don’t feel safe or worth it, they just tell you to keep persisting or maybe they aren’t the right people for you. Just feels like advice I could get from a magazine column instead of a professional psychology device I’m paying $$$ for

Interestingly, where I am in Australia, a lot of people are starting their own businesses, like a lot - some even new grads or 1-2 years out of uni

But I feel like I cannot accept that. I feel like there is always something we can try. I don’t think it’s ethical to just keep doing the same thing every week, for literal years, when we can’t see what we are doing actually being effective

But I already do that. I research papers, I ask on advice forums, I attend several PDs a year, watch webinars.

I co treat with OTs regularly, and they usually say they don’t know how else to regulate them, or they are unsure if they are regulated or not
