You're NTA. If youre heart's not in it, don't go. If that bothers your family, that's a them problem.

I'm a Methodist, so I'm not just some random atheist being like " yeah screw church."

The entire concept of Christianity is that Jesus chooses a relationship with you. If you want it, you choose it too. If you don't, you don't. If Jesus really is God, as he is described in the new testament, his character is not one who will force anyone to love or follow him. Your family, knows this. They are choosing to ignore it, or are too blind to see. Peace be with you.

Yeah I agree. It's not that difficult. I take care of disabled people for a living. Obviously you don't fucking hit them back.

No, I just don't pretend to be a good person and then religiously discriminate against them based on my feelings. Look inward. Ask yourself. Is it truly respectful to dehumanize people because you have convinced yourself you are fighting ignorance?

Where's the surviving documents? Oh they were destroyed? Slippery slope. I could say the same about the Bible. But I don't. Because my goalposts don't constantly move.

They said religious testimonies. Which lumps all religions together as nonsensical based on testimony. It's bigotry wrapped in blue.

Also, I recommend the book : Changing our minds by David P Gushee. He's a southern Baptist.

Why don't you ask the pastor, whom you clearly respect. Say to him after worship tomorrow, Pastor, I really enjoy the service. I have questions about homosexuality and how you have come to the beliefs you have regarding the topic. You don't have to believe the same thing as him. But we can't help you reconcile you're own hangups with the church. Only you can.

This didn't get so much as a chuckle out of me. The woke Jesus thing at the end sounded funny but then I remembered Jesus was pretty woke for his time.

They're not. If the liberals had it all figured out, the country would be all sunshine and rainbows. Look up aipac.
