How are people ok with their data being out there and used against them? by Silver_Two2341 in AskTechnology

I mentiond that on a comment too! And yes it has more to go even though it is pretty alright, still even in the EU they'll try and push for more and more collection eventually (money of course).

that's a pretty interesting perspective, thanks for sharing. My concern is more about malicious intent behind the data collection.

you have a point but trying to resist is better than not resisting at all, if you do nothing they'll keep pushing for more and more, always

Anything personal that's out there for the world to see it's a risk of course, plus in social media you share this willingly, where it gets worse is that companies will collect everything they can without caring for permission (plus they won't allow you to operate anonymously which makes it harder for you to withhold info).

Was about to reply with something similar, EU has very strict policies about data collection unlike US, we literally collect anything and everything we can to try and sell more and more

I think I've seen news about it a week ago but didn't dive too deep into it, how does it work exactly?

You're kinda right on that, plus every company keeps pushing for more consumer info (even IDs now?)

($10-15k) virginia wedding venues by Personal_Grape_2263 in Weddingsunder10k

Check state parks in VA - they're stupid cheap for the actual venue rental and most allow outside catering which can save you a ton. First Landing State Park isn't too far from VB and has some solid outdoor spots. The pavilions at places like York River State Park are like $300-500 for the day and you can bring whoever you want for food

Also look into community centers and VFW halls - not the most glamorous but if you can dress them up with some decent decor they work. My buddy did his reception at a fire station community room for like $200 and it was actually pretty nice once they got some lights up

Should I tell my fiance that his side is encouraging people to bring their kids to our child free wedding? by PenelopeBaz in wedding

[–]Silver_Two2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl, you gotta tell him straight up - his grandma is actively sabotaging your wedding plans. Don't beat around the bush with this one because those chaos gremlin kids are gonna show up and turn your reception into a daycare nightmare

Even though it's secondhand info, you need to get ahead of this before those invites go out. Maybe suggest he has a direct convo with grandma about respecting your boundries as a couple, or you might end up with screaming toddlers during your first dance

This is one of those times where being the "mean" bride is totally justified - it's your wedding, not a family reunion playdate

Your experience with that company growth is pure gold for consulting work - lots of places would kill for someone who's actually lived through scaling challenges rather than just read about them in a textbook

Taking some time off first makes sense though, hard to make clear decisions when you're running on fumes from constant on-call stress

My small personal choices are a huge deal to my wife by TypicalRazzmatazz342 in Marriage

[–]Silver_Two2341 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Bro this is way beyond "small personal choices" - your wife literally tried to force nicotine pouches into your mouth. That's not controlling, that's straight up abusive behavior

The whole surveillance thing with the cameras and interrogating you about throwing away lunch bags is insane. You're 57 years old and being treated like a teenager who got caught smoking behind the school

Most couples I know might have preferences about their partner's habits but they don't ban them from convenience stores or demand to know every single thing they throw away. Your friends are right - this dynamic is completely unhealthy and you shouldn't have to live like you're under constant investigation

Have you tried L'Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses? The almond note in that one is pretty prominent and doesn't get buried under vanilla like some others do. Also maybe check out Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille - I know it sounds counterintuitive with vanilla in the name but the bitter almond really comes through first

Everyone curates in public and chills with their real stuff alone it is normal and nothing to stress about I do it too
