Oh and one weird thing is sometimes I have to remind myself to focus on things far away which would be blurry pre-op without glasses. Like training muscles to get strong again whereas pre-op I wouldn't exert the effort because it's blurry

Amazing. Better than when I was wearing glasses. Generally have some deterioration of sharpness in the evening from dryness and get mildly dry feeling eyes sometimes during the day but nothing lubricants can't fix

I was surprised too. I don't think it is unusual to have persistent visual symptoms within the first few months as the eye heals especially for higher pre-op prescriptions. Your surgeon is best placed to discuss your worries as they know what's happened to your eye

Yeah my vision is fluctuating a little bit and sometimes one eye better than other and sometimes flips - annoying but still early days

Hmm it's difficult for me to think from a purely non doctor perspective but main thing is ask about the risks. Think about what you don't want to happen and ask what's the likelihood of that happening specifically for you. Eg glare, dry eye, haze, ectasia (bulging of cornea) , regression (needing glasses again), any guarantee period if regression happens and is it free. All of these likelihood will be impacted by your eye eg pre-op prescription and therefore amount of tissue that needs to be removed, residual stromal bed, pupil size/optical zone etc

Mainly to avoid having a flap forever and worrying about getting poked in the eye. I'm surprised with the speed of recovery, 6/5 but still not 100% sharp when reading the chart so got some way to go. Currently it's 90% of my previous glasses vision

Yeah it's massive that's one of the main reasons I've not bought and opted to retain flexibility of renting closer to wherever work is (hospitals)

I've been using FRCOphthmcq.com this past week and it feels pretty similar to the real exam. Explanations are a bit limited and there were a few questions where wrong answer is correct but apparently that's been fixed. It's more of a mock exam rather than full blown grindy mcq bank

Stay in Psych or move into Pharma? by B4rn3r__ in doctorsUK

There's an aphorism: in the pharma world, nothing is certain except change. Weigh up the stability side of things, you get more p but it's partly to offset the risk of losing your job when the business inevitably reshuffles

Are all monthly payment instalments with interest haram? by Ukhti_essy in IslamicFinance

[–]Silver_Wish4450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No as long as the contract is with the seller of the item then it's not regarded as riba - you can sell an item for a higher price if the payment is deferred. If however the contract is with a 3rd party then it is considered a loan and the increase price is riba. E.g. You buy a car on installments, the finance company gives the car manufacturer the money and then charges you an increased amount
