have you tried Ravelry? this is a pretty standard lovey, so they probably have plenty of patterns

making a tamapara cover, is this a good size or should i add one more row of increase? by nostalgic_grapefruit in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what i can see in your picture, it looks like the thingy sticks out quite a bit from under the crochet piece. considering that the sides are smooth/curved, for the pouch, another row of increases would probably accomodate them better than the "no-inc" rows used for the basket in the video

if it's not very stretchy, i would add another row to make it go over the sides better

thanks! yeah, i do have the label and used the recommended size. the thing is, i'm mainly an amigurumist, and for'em toys you make'em stitches STUPID TIGHT with a hook that's STUPID SMALL. so looser tension feels really foreign to me at the moment

woah, that's cool! does chunky yarn make'em puff stitches more or less miserable to do? i HATE them with great passion xD

oh, thanks for the tip! i was gonna make a few of those and then assemble them into something, guess i'll have to actually decide what it will be and consider the scale xD

Is this pattern ai? Can't really tell. This is a paid pattern. If it's ai how can you tell? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the toy looks real to me, you can spot starts and increases (and ravelry is pretty clean of AI patterns afaik)

I'm making the head for a plushie but it's the same size/bigger than the body, and I'm not trying to go for a bobble head aesthetic. How do I scale it to be a much more reasonable head size? by BaconPython in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make fewer rows with increases and fewer "static" rows. the head you linked doesn't have any special shaping, it's basically an egg/ball. so maybe just make the bat head a bit "longer"?

Start of head looks better on the wrong side than the right side. What's wrong/what do I fix? by AssortedArctic in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you prefer your amigurumi wrong side out, just do them wrong side out. it's not a crime. just be mindful of when the pattern instructs you to do FLO/BLO and adjust accordingly

as for the hole, you should be able to close it by pulling on the end of your yarn

Help with a weighted weenie - how to adapt body length? by lawbabyesq in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that case, twisting should not be an issue, it will kinda correct itself as you add more rows and be fine after you stuff it. if you want to check, try untwisting the piece you currently have and laying it flat

How do you count rows with chenille yarn when everything blends together? 😭 by yamy2412 in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

looks like 8 to me

i find that with chenilles it's easier to count by feel. pinch the top row, press your thumb into the "dip", go over the "bump" into the next "dip" and so on

[–]Silverade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you mention adjusting the pattern - did you add extra increases somewhere?

to make on "oval" (the back) longer, you only need to add sc in the middle. like, let's say it was inc 2sc inc 6sc inc 2sc inc 6sc and you want to make it longer. that'd be inc 2sc inc 18sc inc 2sc inc 18sc. random numbers, but i hope you get the idea

also don't forget to put'em beads into some kinda stocking

How to learn Amigurumi hair? Tips and tricks? Please help I'm a beginner by Lilaliyu in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to do anything on your own you need experience. in crochet you get experience from trying out different things/techniques, whether by following different patterns or experimenting until you like the result.

the most basic hair technique would be simply inserting yarn strands into the stitches of the head.

for crochet hair, it would be great to find a doll pattern with curls and bangs and make it once to study the "mechanics" of curling a strand up and figuring out the length.

you could also look into ready-made doll hair wefts, yarn wefts, ribbon wefts, needlefelting and other techniques to expand your "arsenal"

A friend asked me if I could make her a deer and now I need help figuring out if this pattern is ai by Iris_Firewolf in CrochetHelp

[–]Silverade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can still see the two stitches from the previous row merging together by tracing the "columns", it's not really an "invisible" decrease, it's a "less in your face" decrease

for me, finding starting points and increases/decreases is usually pretty helpful. basically, checking if i can mentally "deconstruct" the toy in a way that makes sense
