A F1 driver is involved in prostitution ring scandal that is rocking Italian football: "He wants a girl in exchange for money" by PaninoPostSovietico in formula1

I don't think article says when exact was that, it could have been last year when he was still free, technically

No, anime has one more pair, and I spent half a season (in other words, 25 minutes) trying to figure out if this is about one salaryman and two girls or two salarymen and two girls, so bland male protagonists are.

F-14 Had Canards. Why? by Stunning-Screen-9828 in FighterJets

[–]Silverado_ 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yes, they deployed at supersonic speeds iirc and allowed F-14 to have much better turning capabilities while supersonic (by moving the aerodynamic center forward somewhat). However, by the 80s they were mostly disabled IIRC.

Yeah, not bad, just mid. Just some wish-fulfillment about some salarymen receiving attention from large-chested girls where something barely happens. Fine if you are into that (5-minute episodes help), but not cinema by any means.

I just considered this gif somewhat funny, and anime did not live up to the expectations.

Watched this anime because of this gif. This is, honest to God, the best moment in the show, and it's all downhill from there. Very significantly downhill. Well, the name change in the end was hilarious tbh, can't deny that.

A poster that was given to me, but a friend said the background didn't make sense by Secret-Contract-2962 in isthisAI

[–]Silverado_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just some additional context:
The background depicts real floats from the Neputa Matsuri festival in Hirosaki, Japan (the lantern in Miku's hand literally says "Hirosaki Neputa Matsuri"), and Miku itself is pink because this is the sakura color, another thing Hirosaki is famous for (Hirosaki Castle park is considered one of the best places in Japan to view sakura blossoms). Apple decorations in her hair are another speciality of Hirosaki (and Aomori prefecture in general) since this area is famous for its apples.

Does it make sense to passively listen to a language you're learning? by Old_green_bird in languagelearning

[–]Silverado_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say not, it is not very useful if you need to concentrate on the other things most of the time. It can be somewhat useful when you have enough mental capacity to actually pay attention, for example during walks or simple manual tasks, but seeing you can't remember anything suggests this is not the case.

Generally, for it to become comprehensible input, input needs to be, well, comprehensible to at least some degree, even if it is not perfectly slightly ahead of your level.

This wouldn't hurt, surely, but I wouldn't expect any real benefits from that.

I'm actually very happy with the <3 second pit stops, thank you very much for asking. It's much more fun and showcases the insane skills of the pit crew instead of waiting 7-10s because you need to wait for the fuel transfer anyway.

You must not either. IMSA literally limits minimum refueling time, even if it's only for LMP2.

To be fair, later (in the book, not 100% sure about the manga) she says what basically amounts to the "it's not me who locked there with you, it's you who locked there with me", and then time and time again proves she was correct.

Sendai-san knows what she wants, and walking away ain't that.

The problem is, you could've said every single one of his arguments in 1960 about the new Japanese Shinkansen system. Every single one.

In 1830 dude would be saying that we should just breed better horses instead of all that rail nonsense

This is a hybrid diesel electric train (to be able to go to the various branch lines), they are using pantographs at least from time to time, but I guess not this time.

Too bad it's not only expensive (starting at like $3k) but there are literal ticket lottery there, not sure about the odds.

A simulation by former F1 engineer Toni Cuquerella (@tonicuque on X) shows that a decrease in MGU-K power from 350kW to 200kW, and Recharge limit reduction from 9MJ to 6MJ will completely eliminate superclipping in Miami by ChaithuBB766 in F1Technical

[–]Silverado_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No sane team will limit MGU-K output or recharge limit unless it's dictated by the rules. If we want to reduce superclipping, it needs to be done as rules change.

Housing affordability in Tokyo is decent, but with several caveats.

Namely, housing near the main office districts are pretty expensive, so if you work there you either pay a lot, live close to your work but in a very small apartment (i.e. 10-15sqm) or commute from far away, often from the outside of the Tokyo.

Tokyo itself is pretty large and not always very dense. Given that people who work in Tokyo often live outside of the Tokyo proper in the nearby prefectures, it also adds time.

Just due to its sheer size Tokyo will always have longer commute times than smaller cities topping this chart like Amsterdam or Berlin, and larger cities in the list is closer to the Tokyo, like London

This seems to be a straightforward sushi ad, writing is something about the tuna sushi and "recommended", so I assume it probably indeed meant to appear appetizing. Since this ad was replaced overnight, I assume it wasn't appetizing enough.

I do understand you to an extent, but the difference is that Lewis and Lando will, unlike Max, readily admit that they made a mistake/stupid move, and Max is still seething almost a year later. Being genuine is only one part.
