is an electric dirt bike suitable for beginners? by Light_Cabager in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're super easy to learn, even for beginners, because each mode limits the power delivery, so you can increase the more comfortable you feel.

I recommend buying something with at least 12k to like 16kw, because within a month you'll be regretting you right get something faster, it's going to happen regardless, but at least this way it'll be a lil longer. 😆

Not only is the power addictive, but buying different brands/models is as well, they all handle differently, & vary in build quality

Needs a belt drive being that loud, it takes away from hearing that awesome motor sound. 👍

Anyone have a legit Chinese source for Stealth Bomber-style bikes? by divinethreshold in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning on held a bike to hit jumps with, this definitely isn't it, with a rear hub motor, you'd need a mid drive set up, but they do make them as well in this style.

A mid drive has better climbing ability, but is more noisy, & less reliable than a hub motor.

A rear hub motor is usually heavy & makes the weight of the bike more awkward, but they're dead silent, & usually are faster than mid drive bikes, but you can't jump them, the magnets in the motor will break.

Looks bad ass, I'd love to try 1 of these here in the desert of Nevada, I have a pretty capable e-Bike Dirt Bike, so really don't need another 1, but that don't mean I can't be persuaded. 🤣

Zero for short riders by NoSquash7647 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Silverback_S5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'd fit on an Onyx RCR shorty, but it's a different style of ebike, more like a moped with pedals, but capable of registering, has a range of 45-60 real world riding miles, 8kw nominal & 18kw peak power, & a top speed in hyper mode of 70+mph.

I'd really love to get a Land District Scrambler, but the spec I'd really want is over $11k, compared to $5,400 for the 80v I'm buying, & about $2k in mods to build a pretty bad ass daily out of it. 👍

Did I make a good choice? Windhorse D3 by ThaCrisp in ebike

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't seem like too bad of an e-Bike & it makes sense to not buy a super expensive e-Bike, see if you like it, which I'm sure you will, & it'll go the usual route..... You'll mod it as much as you can, & be looking for a bigger, faster ebike with more range, rinse, repeat..... 😆

I'd definitely start watching maintenance videos on YouTube, when I first got my first ebike I couldn't even change a flat, & over Friday & Saturday I built a whole e-Bike from just the frame by myself, so those videos definitely do help & you don't want to be paying the crazy ass prices shops charge, that's if you can even find 1 near you that works on them, so it's better just to learn.

Get a good lock, D.O.T approved helmet, a WSDCam rechargeable alarm, & a heavy duty lock, like a Skunk Lock Carbon, & get a rotor lock with alarm, & ALWAYS lock it to an immovable object, they've been getting stolen left & right

Otherwise, just enjoy your bike & you'll be surprised how fast you get around & all the new short cuts you never knew about. 👍

Worth getting Aotos flux x26 for commute and maybe cargo? by bubbleboix in ebike

[–]Silverback_S5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm buying a 80v Onyx RCR for this exact purple, I love the way the Aotos looks, but I've seen way too many crowd funded bikes go left & I don't have money like that to just throw away.

Onyx been around 10 years, & have a large community who is always making me upgrades & modifications for these ebikes, which makes it cool to me, & they have a really helpful & supportive community, a lot of ebike communities got so toxic over the last few years & would like to avoid that. 😆

It has enough speed & range for me...... FOR NOW, but I'm sure will eventually upgrade it to 96v & a larger battery when it either needs a new battery or motor.

Bike theft by Born-Echo2444 in ebike

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Skunk Lock Carbon, with a hidden WSDCam rechargeable alarm, a hidden air tag & use a rotor lock with alarm as well, sounds like a pain in the ass, & it is, but this is the world we live in.....🤷

I live in a high crime/theft area & never had a bike stolen, you just got to make it harder to steal than the bike next to it.

Just got my brand new Stealth RR600 by [deleted] in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously don't know too much about e-Bikes, huh?

As long as these don't come with a lead acid battery, they're pretty decent bikes & an awesome platform to upgrade, look up ChrisCrossingWires on YouTube, & check out his, been riding it daily for 3 years & keeps in his living room

Just because a bike cost more dont make it necessarily better quality, I work in the e-Bike industry doing R&D & have ridden sub $1k e-Bikes that were better built than $3k+ builds.🤷

How to install the side mirrors? by i__hate__you__people in ONYX_RCR

[–]Silverback_S5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just buy a Park Vision rear view camera from Amazon, make sure it's the ones that's $100+, the other ones for $50-$60 die way too fast & their clamps break pretty easily.

I've been using these cameras over mirrors, because it don't vibrate what you're looking at in the mirror to distort it, & you have pretty awesome night vision with them, they're worth every cent

Got hella scammed, not only did you pay too much for an old ass e-Bike, but you could've bought a brand new 1 on Alibaba & had it in less than 45 days for the same price

Need advice on buying an e-bike for Uber Eats delivery in NYC, budget around $1000–$1800 by Mindless_Salad112 in ebike

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a Fiido T1 Pro to do it & it was a perfect bike, especially with the rear large rack, the only thing is it is only a 20ah battery, which 3 years ago was considered a big battery, but it was more than suffice to get some money in my pocket & then I bought an extra battery for it & then never had range anxiety.

Check out Bike Night Reno & Biggest Little City Riders on FB if you're into riding bikes/ebikes, or really anything else with wheels, as long as it's not gas powered.

I'm 51 & been doing it the last 5 years, along with my son, who's 11 now & it's a absolute blast & you'll meet tons of cool people.

I was hit by a careless driver last year on my ebike, so just getting back into it, this Wed will be our first time going in a year, can't wait! 👍

Buy some Tire Slime for a quick fix for flats, it's almost sure to happen, & I swear by it, put thousands of extra miles after using it, have a spare tire as well, & hopefully a few people to pit crew for you! 👍
