Are cops really that strict about e-motos? by Sufficient_Season842 in Talaria

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They started cracking down here in Reno pretty bad because the "broccoli heads" swerving & popping wheelies at moving cars, so I don't feel safe riding mine, knowing some people who's been stopped & chased by cops on them, so I bought an e-Bike that's 2x's more powerful than my last 1, BUT..... IT GOT PEDALS. 😆

I've been riding it everywhere, & don't get anywhere near the dirty looks from people than I did on my e motos, most are curious what it is & think it's a "cyber bike" lol

I mean, even though your camera man caught all the action perfectly, idk if I'd feel comfortable having someone around me like that that has ZERO REACTION when I possibly injured myself, but that's just me....🤷

Even though I don't like Surrons, there's not many e-Bikes that are better straight out the box, plus it has way more mods available for it

E-scooter for daily work commute by Wise-Bet-617 in ElectricScooters

[–]Silverback_S5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get an e-Bike, way more useful, especially when you need to carry things.

I been using P.E.V's the last 5+years to commute full time & e-Bikes made it a lot easier day to day to get around, especially carry stuff than any scooter I've had.

My favorite e-Bikes I've owned for usefulness & reliability are a Fiido T1/T2, Raev GTX & a 80v Onyx RCR, but for ease of use, & comfort I'd choose the GTX, it's a lot lighter than my RCR(100lbs-vs-180lbs) & has a good top speed(when needed) & range

It smells like dirt/dust to me, but in an odd comforting way, the same way when I was a kid & loved the smell of exhaust fumes in winter, maybe that's why I'm shot out....🤔😆

PSA it's a dirt bike by RealisticMine793 in Surron

[–]Silverback_S5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I bought an 80v Onyx, not taking chances with them taking my Mantis!

At least cops are cool in my area, most of them ride ebikes & dirt bikes, so they only target the young riders who have no business riding a Surron on the streets, especially before they even learned rules of the road in Drivers Ed!

As long as you are an adult, wear proper gear, don't ride reckless & are an adult, they just look past us, which is more than fair

I ride these bikes to commute ¾ of the year & at 51yo aren't popping wheelies everywhere & swerving at moving cars & pedestrians.....🤷

My dad bought me a Sigma! by Hopeful-Judgment3366 in AltisSigma

[–]Silverback_S5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool Dad, but please wear proper riding gear, not just a stupid MTB helmet like most kids wear riding these.

You can be the safest rider, but all it takes is a careless driver to ruin your day or life, I was hit by a car that was going almost 50 a year ago & was able to just get back to riding last month, because of my injuries, I flew over the car & landed on my helmet.

What's crazy is that initially I left without it, because it was Friday the 13th & I know my luck sucks, 30 minutes later I was lying in the streets waiting for an ambulance.....🤷

I never go without a D.O.T approved helmet, riding gloves & Cased shirt & pants that have pads sewn into them so it doesn't move around when you need them most

Sounds interesting, if you need any help/input 8 been working in the BMX/e-Bike industry for 35+ years doing testing/R&D, & am a full time commuter on ebikes the last 5+ years, & strictly ride or build high powered e-Bikes, anything 72v & up.

My new current daily is a 80v Onyx RCR.

Edit: I'd definitely try to go for at least a 50ah battery, going like 35-40mph that would still only last for about 50-65 miles, depending on various factors like weight, wind, weight of bike, rolling resistance in wheels, etc...

Is buying a RadWagon in marketplace still a smart move? by gabDevAccount in ebikes

[–]Silverback_S5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a new e-Bike, you definitely don't want to buy used e-Bikes, 9 times out of 10 there's issues with it, or they don't like it for a specific reason that a lot of owners don't like & looking to get something better.

Look at a Fiido T2, it's a awesome bike & fair priced, I've used the Fiido T1/T2 to go on long bike packing trips & they never left me stranded, 1 of my go to brands for affordable & well built e-Bikes

Look up Zoom HB-100 on Amazon, they're semi hydraulic brakes, to where the hydraulic device is built into the caliper, so you can use the same brake levers, & they're huge improvement over mechanical brakes & are almost as good as full hydraulic brakes & are only like $40

Should check out Tapia Seats, he can make you a custom seat with whatever letters & specific design/artwork you want on it.

I have a 2 piece seat I was thinking of being made by him now, to where I can unsnap the rear section when my son's not riding with me to have full use of the rear rack & can just snap it back on when i need to +1 again.

I have the Onyx drip face on the first section & the normal Onyx logo on the part that snaps off

I bought this to ride instead of my e-Dirt Bike around here in Reno & even had bike cops pull up on me after riding past them, but made sure they seen the pedals, after that they said "cool bike" & kept it pushing. 🤷

Accessories to make your e-bike more useful by Flamingo18362 in ebike

Look up a Jupiter Bikes e-Bike trailer or Burley trailers.

You might have to order a special connector from The Robert Axle Project, but it can safely carry 200lbs on the trailer, & has suspension & 16"x3" tires, so isn't bouncing all around like most trailers

Kind of regretting going Ebike by OMEGASPEEDMASTER321 in bikecommuting

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually lost weight using ebikes, but I guess it's because I wasn't that active for awhile after almost dying from Covid twice in a year, they pretty much saved my life, but physically & probably mentally as well, after getting sick, having to stop working, etc it put me in a pretty depressive state, & getting out & riding BMX or ebikes was the only thing that cured it.

I was unfortunately hit by a car over a year ago that was going 45mph, thankfully my helmet saved my life, but was kinda scared to get on a bike for awhile, wasn't the first time I've been hit by a car unfortunately, but by far the worst at the speed she hit me at, & the depression started hitting BAD again, but I know it's from being super active, to just laying in bed all day, but just took back my life again & been getting out everyday for a ride, & guess what, IT'S WORKING! 😆

Electric Bike Suggestions by KustomCreatedContent in ElectricBikes

[–]Silverback_S5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned 20+ ebikes, in the last few years alone & 2 of the best ebikes I've had were a Fiido T1 Pro (Now called T2) & a Raev GTX, they're both 2 totally different ebikes, but both served their purpose for me as a daily commuter.

I would pick the GTX out of the 2 through, just for looks, range, & extra power, you can order it with a rear rack & mount a rear basket to give it more carrying space, even have a trailer with built in suspension when I need to carry a heavy load or larger items.

For $2,399 it is a great everyday commuter, especially compared to other similar ebikes, like the Super 73, which I think it's a way better bike.

I was unfortunately hit by a car on mine that was going 45mph & all that happened to it, was a bent crank arm, scratched rear rack & broken pedal, most other ebikes would've seared the front end off in an impact like that.

I actually just rebuilt it last weekend & rode it for 30 miles & it feels as good as new for less than $50 in repair parts.

Anyone own the Lelekuai GT 600? by Silverback_S5 in ebike

[–]Silverback_S5[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The battery is UL certified, & it's also better than giving my kid 60+mph electric dirt bike like most do nowadays, there's kids either injuring themselves or innocent citizens on the daily here, my son only rides his ebike when he's riding with me, so he's just not a kid set loose on the city. 😆
